One of the downsides of having an older vehicle is not being able to get the latest and greatest in terms of features. A key example is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. But if you own an older Kia, you'll be able to get this feature in the near future.
The Korean automaker has announced that its free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto software update will be available on a select group of older models equipped with either the UVO infotainment system or navigation. The list of vehicles include,
- 2014-2016 Soul
- 2015-2016 Optima / Optima Hybrid
- 2015-2016 Sedona
- 2015-2016 Soul EV
- 2016 Sorento
“Providing CarPlay® and Android Auto™ to a greater number of vehicles in our lineup will revitalize our current owners’ systems with an additional element of convenience while maximizing the benefits of connectivity,” said Henry Bzeih, Managing Director Connected & Mobility Services for Kia Motors America.
If you want the update, you'll need to register your vehicle at myuvo.com. Later this month, Kia will send out an email with a link to the software update and instructions on how to do it.
