Starting next year, you will not be able to get an Aston Martin Rapide with a V12 engine.
This information comes to us courtesy of Motoring.com.au who spoke with Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer who revealed that 2018 marks the end of gas powered Rapide. It will be replaced with an electric version called the RapidE. The electric powertrain is being developed by Williams Advanced Engineering - affiliated with the Williams Formula 1 team. Horsepower is expected to be around 800, while total range will be around 199 miles (320 kilometers) depending on driving conditions.
Those who want a practical Aston Martin with a gas engine will need to wait for the DBX crossover or the first Lagonda model, the latter we've reported on last week.
“So obviously there’s a platform for the electric Rapide, so it has life in front of it, but the Rapide as you see it today is also going to be replaced by the DBX on one hand and the Lagonda on the other,” said Palmer.
