Jaguar Land Rover finds themselves the victim of a massive engine heist.
Last Tuesday night, a group of thieves drove up to JLR's factory in Solihull, Great Britain in a stolen semi truck. Once entering the factory grounds, the thieves found a trailer full of engines, hooked it up to the truck and went on their merry way within six minutes. They would return some time later in the night to take another trailer full of engines. The total cost of the engines? According to the Birmingham Mail, it was £3 billion (about $3.7 billion).
“We can confirm that we are working closely with West Midlands Police to investigate the theft of engines from the Solihull manufacturing plant.” The spokesperson went on to mention “A reward is on offer to anyone who has information which leads to the successful recovery of these engines,” a Jaguar Land Rover spokesman said.
The West Midlands Police have so far found the trailers that were taken, minus the engines.
This isn't the first time that JLR's Solihull factory has been burglarized. Three years ago, thieves stole £1.2 billion worth of engines in exactly the same way. Five people were convicted of the crime.
