Seeing a Lamborghini Diablo going up on the auction is nothing really special. But this particular Diablo possibly has a special story.

Silverstone Auctions has a 1999 Lamborghini Diablo SV (Super Veloce) going up for auction next month and according to them, this is the last Diablo built before Volkswagen took over the company. A bold claim to make, so they better have something to back this up. They do as this particular model was built on December 21, 1999, the last day Lamborghini produced vehicles at their Sant'Agata Bolognese plant before the holidays. As the new millennium started, Volkswagen became the new owner of the Italian sports car maker. Now Silverstone Auctions is quick to point out that they are only assuming this based on the information at hand. They are waiting to hear back from Lamborghini to see if this is the last one built in 1999 or not.

Aside from this interesting history, this particular Diablo has only covered about 32,000 miles since it was built and features an almost complete service history. Most of the vehicle is original aside from the suspension which went under a restoration in 2013. It also happens to be one of the last Lamborghini V12 models to boast rear-wheel drive - in 2000, the Diablo would come with all-wheel drive as standard.

Silverstone Auctions expects this Diablo to sell between £150,000 - £170,000 (about $217,500 - $246,600 at current exchange rates). The auction that the Diablo is part of takes place on March 6th.
