The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV was just introduced this past summer and already is drawing notice for its performance and range.
Chevrolet is celebrating an important win! The all-new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV drives off with the title of MotorTrend’s 2024 SUV of the Year. There were forty different SUVs up for the honor, but the Blazer takes home the “Golden Calipers”. As I reported in June, the 2024 Blazer EV is incredibly important for Chevrolet, because it badly needs an affordable mid-size SUV. There are lots of small EVs, but the Blazer EV will be able to carry more passengers comfortably, while still being relatively affordable. The Blazer was recently certified by the EPA at 324 miles on a full charge. There is also a sporty SS model, which should make it more attractive to many buyers.
Why MotorTrend Selected the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV
MotorTrend credits the Blazer EV’s cutting-edge technology, dynamic design and unprecedented powertrain choices as the reasons for their selection. The Blazer EV continues Chevy’s legacy of delivering innovative electric vehicles for its customers, first seen by MotorTrend’s 2017 Car of the Year winner, the Chevrolet Bolt EV.
“Chevrolet has truly nailed the design and functionality with the Blazer EV, which looks and operates just as an industry-leading all-electric SUV should,” said Ed Loh, MotorTrend Group head of editorial. “The Chevy Blazer EV offers an effortless driving experience, seamlessly integrates into your lifestyle and boasts user friendliness that's hard to match.”
MotorTrend says it evaluates SUVs based on six important criteria. The judges review the SUVs’ safety, advancement in design and performance of intended function.
“We are excited and honored to receive this recognition for the Blazer EV,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “This vehicle takes convenience and customer choice to the next level, a major step in delivering on Chevrolet’s promise to provide an EV for everyone.”
A Trim Package for All Different Tastes
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is available in a number of trim packages, including LT, RS and Chevy’s first-ever electric SS. It is available in front, rear and all-wheel drive configurations. The Blazer EV is loaded with technology, such as a 17.7-inch-diagonal customizable infotainment touchscreen.
Why the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer is Especially Important
Chevrolet needs to do something special to win over the current Tesla buyers. Ford has the Mach E, with the Mustang cache to impress people who want a crossover. Chevrolet needs to wow the crowd, to draw reluctant buyers into the fold. The Cadillac vehicles are stunning but expensive. Chevy needs to remind the potential EV buyers about Chevrolet and its dedication to performance and sports cars. Hopefully, the MotorTrend award of SUV of the year will boost the acceptance of the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV.
Chevrolet’s initial launch edition, the Blazer EV RS AWD, is currently available, priced at $60,2153. This price excludes applicable federal tax credits. Pricing for the other Blazer EV trims will be announced closer to their launch dates in 2024. Customer orders for other trims will be accepted closer to their launch dates, as well.
