Excitement is building for the arrival of the first 2024 FIAT 500e BEVs. Production for the U.S. versions just started and the vehicle is already winning awards.
Production of the North American versions of the 2024 FIAT 500e just started and the BEV is already winning awards. The Green Car Journal selected the all-new FIAT 500e as the 2024 Urban Green Car of the Year. The FIAT 500e will be Stellantis’ first BEV in America. Green Car Journal editors noted the compelling combination of efficiency, affordability, style and zero-emission motoring with a cool Italian vibe.
“FIAT’s new 500e is innately appealing with its compact form, Italian fashion sense, and zero emission driving,” said Ron Cogan, Editor and Publisher of Green Car Journal and GreenCarJournal.com. “It’s also right-sized for urban life, which means easier maneuvering and parking in crowded environs.”
2024 FIAT 500e BEV
The Fiat 500e is a completely new four-seat, battery-electric vehicle with a dedicated BEV platform. The new 500e is wider and longer than the previous gas-powered model. The BEV has more interior space for passengers and storage.
As I reported last December, the 2024 500e will be the lightest passenger BEV in the market. The FIAT 500e delivers an estimated range of 149 miles, enabled by a 42 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery with a Level 2 (11-kW) charge time of four hours and 15 minutes (30 amp). I reported earlier this month that Jennifer Lopez is featuring the 500e in one of her videos and the superstar has allowed FIAT to use her video for their advertising. FIAT is also experimenting with supplying the vehicles to apartments as a high-end amenity.
2024 FIAT 500e in High Demand
The first allocation of all-electric 2024 Fiat 500e vehicles quickly sold out. The two-door, battery-electric vehicle (BEV) has a MSRP of $32,500 and lease incentives of $7,500 plus local incentives. The vehicle includes a Level 2 charging wall unit or charge credits through Free2move Charge. The first 2024 500e BEVs should be in America by the end of the first quarter.
“The Fiat 500e is an affordable, electric city car taking cues from the brand's history, democratizing transportation in the same way FIAT has deployed since the brand's inception,” said Aamir Ahmed, head of FIAT North America - Stellantis. “The Urban Green Car of the Year award is a wonderful way to start the launch of an EV that offers a clear expression of form following function, economical use of materials and a belief that quality design should be accessible to all.”
Stellantis’ First U.S. BEV
The FIATS are just the first of several Stellantis EV models promised for here, including the Jeep Wagoneer S and the Dodge Charger Daytona EVs that are planned as 2025 models. The FIAT 500e vheicles are being built at the Mirafiori Assembly Plant in Turin, Italy.
In Europe, the 500e is leading the electric city-car market for the second year in a row. The 500e is ranked first in Italy, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Austria.
