GM made a point about its SuperCruise Hands-Free technology by setting up a hands-free driving caravan. GM set a record for all the vehicles that can use the revolutionary tech.
Led by a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV, GM created a caravan of its vehicles that can be equipped with its hands-free technology called SuperCruise. The lineup was remarkable, setting a record for the largest group of vehicles with drivers going hands-free at the same time. The photo of the hands-free parade going over the Bay Bridge from San Francisco to Oakland, California, is impressive. GM has twenty different models that can be enabled with SuperCruise, with a couple more due to be released this year.
Industry Leading Hands-Free Technology
Typically, when people talk about a vehicle being driven hands-free, the talk usually surrounds Tesla and its controversial autopilot feature. However, the SuperCruise technology is actually a more capable self-driving feature. It also appears to be safer. SuperCruise requires the driver to remain engaged in the driving process. A camera stays focused on the driver’s eyes, if the driver looks away for too long, the tech stops working. SuperCruise works on about 750,000 miles of compatible roads across the U.S. and Canada, including divided highways, major highways and even less traveled roads between many rural towns.
As of this year, SuperCruise offers many features that other hands-free systems can’t including:
- Hands-Free Trailering-this is an industry exclusive
- Lane Change on Demand
- Automatic Lane Change
- Improved Handling on Curves
GM Offers More Models that Can Be Hands-Free
