With Audi's new Q3 creating quite a stir, there's a new report that a new RS model of the Q3 is in the planning stage and should be delivered sometime in the 2019 sales year.
If you have been thinking there might be a hotter version of the Audi Q3 and if you have thought that it would be a good thing if it made it to this side of the pond, you may be in luck, says Motor1, quoting Car and Driver.
Introduced About Two Weeks Ago
According to the magazine, the automaker is hinting at an RS version of the Q3. Audi introduces the new Q3. Audi recently introduced the restyled, second-generation crossover.
That’s the good news. There’s better news, as well. According to Car and Driver, the five-cylinder from the TT RS will make a return in the RS version of the Q3. Audi Q3 may use engine from TT RS. Since that engine turns out 400 horsepower, it is pretty reasonable to believe the RS version of the Q3 will be at least that powerful, quite possibly more.
Getting the power to the wheels will involve a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox. And, of course, the vehicle will need upgraded brakes and a better suspension, as well as a few aero tweaks which will turn the RS Q3 into a crossover that looks as good as any other vehicle in its class.
New Model Features A Sleeker Profile
It is funny that there’s already intense speculation on an upgraded Q3 as the crossover was introduced barely two weeks ago. The new model features a sleeker profile. It features all of Audi’s latest design hints.
The Q3 features a stretched wheelbase, making the new model longer. The extended version means there is more room for the driver and passengers. The new model is also full of Audi’s tech package. It includes Apple CarPlay, a suite of the latest in safety systems. Also, there is an option for Audi’s Virtual Cockpit which should be interesting.
Audi RS Q3 May Be Available Until Sometime in 2019
So, when will the new, more powerful Q3 become available here? With the Q3 going on sale in Europe in November and with U.S. sales following in 2019, it means that the RS won’t be available until sometime in 2019, at the earliest.
