After road testing in Michigan, the first shots of the 2018 Hyundai Sonata have popped up online showing upgraded styling.
After being for sale for two years in the US, there were complaints that the Sonata styling was too plain looking and the new spy shots seem to indicate a redesign which will bring back a more sleek appearance and Fluidic Sculpture design sculpture seen on the earliest models. On initial impressions the front fascia will gain sharper headlights with a new hood and front bumper. This goes back to 2011 with a more fluid design as the 2015 model was seen as much more conservative for many, which Hyundai are seemingly addressing with the new model.
The fog lights also seem to be re positioned, much closer to the lower air intake, with what looks like side air intakes on the front corner of the new vehicle. There also seems to be upgraded taillights with a smaller rear bumper with a subtle design change to the trunk and the fascia. This also moves down the rear license plate.
On initial impressions, it looks like the new 2018 Sonata will definitely start to look more streamlined and cool for its next iteration, which should also include upgrades to the driving experience with handling and steering feedback which seems to be the case for Hyundai's other models such as the 2018 Hyundai Veloster.
The interior is completely camouflaged so it's expected that upgrades abound here with a new infotainment system and enhanced dashboard. Big changes seem to be bound for the 2018 Sonata with Hyundai integrating the best of the past models with some latest design tweaks. Major changes seem to be coming for the Sonata, how many will reach the final model is as yet unclear, but you will definitely see a more visually appealing Sonata for the 2018 year.
It's expected that the 2018 Hyundai Sonata will hit showrooms by either the end of the year or early next, but until then keep checking back for the latest Hyundai News.
