We know that the Hyundai Veloster N is coming, but we just don’t know when it's coming and now it's spied again.
It’s not exactly a secret that Hyundai has big plans for its N performance sub-brand, and we’ve reported before that the upcoming Veloster will offer an N trim level. We’ve even spotted spy shots of the upcoming Veloster N on our journeys across the Internet.
New Spy Shots Show New Details
Venerable car-enthusiast publication Car and Driver has published another round of spy shots, and we’ve learned about a few more details. The car will get a front fascia that is unique to that trim level, 10-spoke wheels, disc brakes that are larger than what’s been seen on other test mules, and corner exhaust outlets on each side instead of the center exhaust seen on spy shots of non-N models (the current Veloster also has a center exhaust).
Previous spy shots showed a big wing, a la Honda Civic Type R or Subaru WRX STI, and that wing appears to be attached to this test mule, too.
Other Details
C/D reports that the Veloster and 2018 Elantra GT will share the same platform, and that the Veloster N will use the same adaptive suspension system that the i30 N will (it’s unclear if the i30 N will be sold in America).
The mag also guesses that the engine will be a turbocharged four-cylinder with a 2.0-liter displacement and around 250 horsepower, and both a six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission will be available for the front-drive Veloster N. It guessed that the car will be priced around $25,000 when it’s revealed, probably during the 2018 auto-show season.
