It’s too late for the first generation Tesla Model S to get another variant, but I am hoping Tesla might consider a two door coupe variant for the next one.
In my opinion unless Tesla considers a two door coupe Model S, a custom shop would be left to the task, like they build Model S hearses.
Ares Design, the Italian coaching house, is the only well known reputable who has published renders of a drophead coupe they could build, and it’s beautiful. However, you can tell it’s an expensive proposition probably in the Bentley price point stratosphere.
Such a car could compete in many segments from Dodge Challenger, most likely up to Mercedes S63.
Speaking of Bentley and drophead, other than Smart and Fiat having removable panels or partial collapsible tops for their open air BEV micro cars, Bentley is poised to make the first BEV full fledged production convertible.
It would be nice if it was a Tesla instead. What is your opinion? Please, share your opinion in the comments section below. Do you think Tesla will make this happen and if yes will it be based on Model S or Model X platform?

That concept already exist
That concept already exist for the Tesla brand. It's called the Tesla ROADSTER! Hope to see production in late 2020.
NO. The Roadster and Model S
NO. The Roadster and Model S are two totally separate cars made from different platforms. Tesla invested in product development to make a totally new car from the ground up than the glider they started with in Roadster 1. This is one of the reasons why Roadster 2 is over $200,000 and the Model S is not. Although the Roadster 2 is a larger vehicle it barely has room for backseat passengers. This is not the kind of vehicle I’m talking about in the Tesla Model S for a coupe.
If it was halfway between the
If it was halfway between the S and 3 sizes I would buy it without a doubt.
They would start with a Model
They would start with a Model S frame and make a two door. It would still be a full size car. It wouldn’t make sense to take a Model S frame then modify it to midsize, that’s too much money and they’d charge Bentley money for the car which would defeat the purpose. I wouldn’t object to a Model 3 convertible for that matter either. If it’s going to be midsize just make a Model 3 droptop.
