This is what you can expect with 2023 Toyota Sequoia mpg.
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is, in my opinion, the best redesign Toyota has produced in the 17 years I have been reviewing the brand.
Beautiful exterior styling, spacious and modern interior, great safety and technology, and many creature comfort features. Oh, and much improved tow capacities compared to its previous generation.
Yes, just about everything has been revealed to the public about 2023 Sequoia.
But there is one specification we still do not know.
Miles. Per. Gallon.
2023 Toyota Sequoia mpg
Toyota has stated the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will be available for retail sale sometime this fall. Some potential buyers may be holding out until fuel economy projections are revealed, though.
Especially with gas prices climbing all across the country.
Since Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Tundra share so many common specifications and qualities, it may be fair to look at 2022 Tundra mpg to predict Sequoia numbers.
Take a look at 2022 Tundra fuel efficiency figures for its i-FORCE MAX (Tundra Hybrid) for comparison (437 horsepower and an incredible 583 lb.-ft. torque).
Tundra Limited is 18mpg city / 24mpg highway / 20mpg combined for 4x2 and 19mpg city / 22mpg highway / 21mpg combined for 4x4.
Tundra Platinum and 1794 Edition 4x2 are rated at 18mpg city / 24mpg highway / 20mpg highway. The Tundra Platinum and 1794 Edition 4x4 are 19mpg city / 22mpg highway / 20mpg combined.
Tundra Capstone is only offered in 4x4 configuration and is rated at 19mpg city / 22mpg highway / 20mpg combined.
Tundra TRD Pro 4x4 is listed at 18mpg city / 24mpg highway / 20mpg combined.
How will 2023 Toyota Sequoia compare against Tundra? I did my own testing to learn more.
My 2023 Sequoia mpg
Thanks to Toyota, I was able to evaluate many Sequoia trim levels for several days. I test drove Sequoia SR5 4x4 for about 60 miles in one stretch and was able to check many boxes off my questions list.
Here is my test drive video from my “ToyotaJeff Reviews” YouTube channel. I have compiled a library of about 15 next-gen Sequoia videos that I hope you find helpful.
My drive was a nice variety of city streets, highway miles, and country roads. As you know, fuel economy numbers can be officially posted, but a big contributing factor is driving behavior.
I am more of a heavy accelerator pedal guy by nature (not necessarily speeding, but quicker accelerations). This could, of course, hinder my final numbers.
At my highest readings, I was getting just over 22mpg and my lowest I was getting around 18-19mpg. My final average was 20.9mpg, which I was quite pleased with.
Time for Your Toyota Sequoia Comments
On a similar note, I found 2023 Sequoia SR5 drove smooth and relatively quiet even at highway cruising speeds. I was impressed with its acceleration, especially at mid-speed ranges like 25mph to 55mph.
I will be curious what you think of 2023 Toyota Sequoia so far? Is this a vehicle you would consider?

I am trying my best to hold
I am trying my best to hold out for the 2023 Sequoia. Everything I have read says July/Summer 2022. Your article stated Fall 2022, is that the latest information from Toyota? Thanks!
I love the Sequoia and Toyota
I love the Sequoia and Toyota. My current Sequoia is 2012 with 185,000 miles and I have had not one issue. Batteries, oil changes and tires is all it has needed in all this time. Amazing. That said - I am super worried about MPG and had hoped a V6 model with hybrid functionality might get closer to 25-28MPG. I know that is a lot to ask for, but in a time with Ford Lighting, Rivian RS1 and other E-Trucks and SUVs... I think a 2023 Gas/Hybrid might need to do better than avg of 20MPG. Just keeping it real.
Sort of wishful thinking..I
Sort of wishful thinking..I hear you, would be nice..but not surprised. I’m surprised if it really hits 20 real world. Wish they had a plug-in option with 35 miles ev..
2012 4wd Sequoia has combined
2012 4wd Sequoia has combined mpg of 15. 21 mpg combined may not sound like a lot, but it's a 35% improvements over the old V8. Also, the hybrid setup for tundras and sequoia is similar to f-150 powerboost, and very different than Prius, sienna etc..it was designed for work and power over efficiency.
