Top 5 Toyotas You Need in a "Zombie" Apocalypse. Did 2020 Tundra Make the List?

These are the most desirable Toyota cars, trucks and SUVs you should have in the event of a "zombie invasion." Did your favorite make the list?

It is time to have a little fun and lighten things up a bit. With all the stress and anxiety and uneasiness people all over the world are feeling, I would like to add some levity and make people smile a little.

What to do in the unlikely event of a "full zombie apocalypse?" I mean, we should be at least somewhat prepared for whatever this may bring. I imagine one of the last things we would think about in-depth is what form of transportation we have available to us when the time comes. However, it is crucial. We need something that is dependable, reliable and certainly tough. Plus, is your current ride able to do what you need it to do when times get challenging?

This is where Toyota comes into play.

Known for being among the longest-lasting and durable cars, trucks and SUVs on the planet, Toyota is the ideal brand for this hypothetical but fun scenario.

These are my Top 5 choices for vehicles I want when unexpected things happen.

#5: Toyota Camry Hybrid

My instinct is to go with a 2020 Camry Hybrid, specifically the LE trim level. This one gets 52 miles per gallon so I feel it is able to successfully travel a long distance on a single tank of gasoline better than most vehicles around. Plus, it gets 208 total net horsepower so it has pickup and speed necessary for quick getaways.

And please remember that Toyota Camry has been the best-selling midsize sedan in the country for nearly two straight decades. Peace of mind here my friends.

#4: Toyota Tundra

A 2020 Tundra definitely belongs on my list. With a trusty 5.7-liter engine that produces 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. torque, it has the power I need. Also, I can choose between a Double Cab and CrewMax depending on if I need more rear seat passenger space or longer bed length.

This Toyota Tundra will last practically forever too. I would have put it higher on the list, except being a full-size truck, a 2020 Tundra might not be ideal for quick U-Turns and other evasive maneuvering.

#3: Toyota 4Runner

Some people call the Toyota 4Runner the last true SUV left on the planet. Talk about tough. And it is known for being able to take on the toughest trails, rock beds and mountain passes. Depending on the trim level you choose, you can either have the standard two rows of seating or go with the optional third row for more crew members.

I am going with my hunch and grabbing the 2020 4Runner TRD Off-Road or 2020 4Runner TRD Pro for my "zombie invasion" ride here. They both come equipped with multi-terrain select and crawl control if I am concerned about losing traction on slippery or uneven terrain.

I wonder if I should have put the 2020 4Runner at the top of my list. Now I'm second-guessing myself here.

#2: Toyota Land Cruiser

Land Cruiser is the ultimate sport utility vehicle. The 2020 Land Cruiser also features the choice between the traditional model and the 2020 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition.

If you are looking for smooth, quiet and comfortable, go with 2020 Land Cruiser. Plus, as it comes with an $80,000 price tag, and since in this apocalypse scenario money means pretty much nothing, imagine what a bargain this would be if you have it for free.

#1: Toyota Tacoma

This one is practically a no-brainer to me. Toyota Tacoma is as tough and reliable and dependable as it gets in the automotive world, and the 2020 Tacoma simply builds on the already impressive pedigree of the country’s best-selling midsize truck.

I would go with a 2020 Tacoma TRD Off-Road or a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro, since they both have crawl control, multi-terrain select and locking rear differential.

An added bonus here is that once the apocalypse ends, your 2020 Toyota Tacoma will have a higher resale value than any other car, truck or SUV around with Toyota and across all brands.

Mine would be- #5 Rav4, #4 Land Cruiser, #3 Tundra, #2 Taco, #1 4Runner. I am also a 4runner owner... So my opinion may be a little biased. I bumped the Land cruiser down since those are a little rare and if something were to go wrong, it'd be harder to find parts for it. The Camry didn't make my list since it would be very difficult to off-road in one, and the RAV4 could while getting hybrid mpg!

Bought my 1997 4 Runner, with 5 speed manual, new in the fall of 1996 and I am just short of 230,000 miles. Still "runnering" like new!

I have a 2019 TRD offroad and have to say you nailed it!!! The trucks are bullet proof, have such envy by people who have inferior four wheel drive trucks to boot, and furthermore all they can do is WEEP when they see the resale money a Tacoma brings to the table lol.
