Hyundai will expand the engine plant at its manufacturing facility in Montgomery, Alabama, as it gears up to produce its new Nu engine that is being used in the 2011 Hyundai Elantra which is already manufactured at the Montgomery plant.
The Nu engine will also be used in the Santa Fe and Kia Sorrento manufactured at the company’s sister plant, Kia Motor Manufacturing Georgia in West Point, Georgia.
Hyundai will make a $163 million capital investment in equipment for the engine plant, including updating technology. Another $10 million will be spent on the building itself, which is being expanded to 362,155 square feet.
