Ford introduces some new colors for 2021 F-150 and also will discontinue other colors. 2021 Ford F-150 will be the 14th generation of the F-Series.
There’s so much buzz and excitement around the 14th generation of the Ford F-150 that’s due out for the 2021 model year. We jump on every little bit of information we can get our hands on. So, when I spotted, in an F-150 forum, a release of some new colors for 2021, I had to write about it.
New Colors for 2021 Ford F-150
By all accounts, although unconfirmed by Ford officially, there will be three new color palettes for the 2021 Ford F-150. They are:
Antimatter Blue: This is a dark blue. And I mean dark blue. So much so that friends will argue that it’s black. I love the name too as it has an out-of-this-world playfulness.
Carbonized Gray Metallic: There are several shades of gray that will be available for the F-150. This new color palette is very dark. This gray replaces the outgoing Magnetic Gray, which was a popular shade. So for 2021, Ford will update their offerings of gray.
Space White Pearl: The paint chip I saw for this looks much more gray than white, so I’m baffled by the name. Especially when you consider how close in name it is to the popular Star White Pearl color that is a pearlescent off-white and a very popular color choice for the F-150.
Five color choices will be discontinued for the next-generation Ford F-150 due out for the 2021 model year. They are:
Magma Red – This incredibly dark red, or really maroon, failed to attract many buyers as it was just too dark. Buyers who want red, like vibrant shades of red, not ones that almost look in certain light.
Blue Jeans – This was one of my favorite color choices for F-150, and I liked the name too. What’s more rugged sounding blue jeans? Blue is one of my favorite colors for most vehicles, so if you’re like me, you might have to turn to Velocity Blue to satisfy your needs.
Silver Spruce – Green is a color that has a niche following when it comes to consumers. Generally, trucks in more obscure colors like green, don’t hold their resale value. So it only makes sense for Ford to discontinue Silver Spruce. As such, Ford will only have Guard on the green prism.
Abyss Gray – As I mentioned there are many shades of gray available, so it makes sense for Ford to whittle down the gray choices bit.
Magnetic – A much better name than Abyss Gray, but like Abyss, it is being discontinued. Don’t worry, there are three other true gray options, but Magnetic was one of the top-selling color choices for the F-150.
As of now, we don’t know what colors will be available for what trims and which of these colors will be considered premium choices.
When Will The 2021 Ford F-150 Be Released?
My colleague Marc Stern corrected some misinformation that was churning in the rumor mill when he reported that we simply don’t have a firm date on the reveal. Also, with most things Ford related on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I would expect a launch of the 2021 Ford F-150 sometime this summer.
Make no mistake, other than the Ford Bronco and the Bronco Sport, this is the most pressing vehicle release Ford is working on. I’m sure many of their marketing folks have scrambled to change plans and put a launch sequence in place when all things Corona dissipate. Until then, we will cling to any little bit of news nuggets and even rumors we can get our hands.
Check out my comparison of this baby Power Stroke engine with Ram's EcoDiesel and see why one is selling much better than the other.

I want to hear what your favorite color of the F-150 is? And what color are your most excited to see or most upset to see be discontinued. Leave me comments below.

I test drove a magma red on a cloudy November 2018 day. It wasn’t until after I finished the test drive, including bringing it home to test garage fit, that I discovered it wasn’t black. Only after seeing the sticker did I see the red hue. I imagine it is much more apparent on sunny days.

Living in Florida, I would like to purchase a 2021 Ford F-150 Lariat with the 12 inch screen, and my favorite exterior color would be the light blue metallic color with a tan trim on the interior.

what has ford done getting rid of the lightning blue or air force blue as I like to call it. The best color out there period!
I get more compliments on my 2018 xlt sport with that color. Bring it back and make it available on all 3 trims. Ford would do well with lightning blue. Great name, great color.

I currently possess my first pick up of all time which is a 2018 Lariat and it is magma red. My wife is pressing for us to get a 2021 but I really hate to let my big old red go. When folks ask what color it is, I tell them I call it Cherry Rootbèer. I absolutely love it!!
