It seems the saga of the Swedish automaker Saab has another interesting twist. Several news sources are reporting that key Saab's officials are in China. Apparently they were invited there by the Chinese automaker, Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile, to have talks about buying Saab, again.

The 1993 Jaguar XJ200S Coupe is a rare breed indeed. Modified by Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) into a street legal version of the three XJ220C’s they put to work on the GT racing circuit. It held the speed record for a production car (in spite of the Walkinshaw modifications) until the McLaren F1 took the title in 1994.

Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk has announced that the company will reveal preliminary designs on their next in-house vehicle, dubbed the Model X. This car will follow the soon-to-release Model S as the company's second vehicle design for market. The vehicle will be an SUV-type model and will be unveiled at an event on February 9.

Volkswagen is recalling 159,884 VW and Audi cars with diesel TDI engines in model years 2008 through 2011 for a possible fuel leak problem. The recall is voluntary and was not ordered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but affects nearly every car sold in North America with the ultra-efficient TDI engines. BMW is also recalling nearly 300,000 vehicles.

Of the 12.778 million light vehicles sold in the U.S. last year, a modest fleet-wide efficiency improvement of one half mile per gallon totaled a savings of $722 million at the gas pump. It also reduced the U.S. millions of barrels a day consumption habit by 214 million gallons of petrol, according to analysts at TrueCar.com. Divided among those cars and light trucks that’s roughly $60 each.
