While the ultra high performance Ford Mustang built by Shelby American made its online debut in pictures that turned out to be photoshopped, the 2012 New York Auto Show brought the incredible new Shelby 1000 Mustang into the public eye for the first time at the same auto show that introduced the world to the Shelby name back in 1962.

It has been over 35 years since John DeLorean debuted his vision of the new age of automobiles at the 1977 Detroit Auto Show but with the opening of the 2012 New York International Auto Show, the epic gullwing American sports car made its reemergence into the auto show world – this time powered by a high tech electric drivetrain in the form of the new DeLorean DMCev.

Among the world debuts at the 2012 New York Auto Show is the introduction of the 2012 BMW M6 Convertible - a high performance droptop slated to hit North American dealerships this summer with a price starting well above the $100k mark but just like the M6 Coupe, the M6 ‘vert comes with all of the high performance goodies that you would expect from BMW’s performance division.

The Chrysler Group announced the details for their 2013 Ram 1500 today with a slight facelift, more power from the Hemi, the new Pentastar V6, an air suspension system, start/stop technology and an 8-speed automatic transmission for both engines that is expected to help increase fuel economy by roughly 20%.

Hyundai managed to do the impossible – keep the launch of its 2013 Santa Fe Long Wheelbase model almost a complete secret before it was launched at the New York Auto Show. That's practically unheard of in this day and age.

Today at the New York Auto Show debut of the 2013 SRT Viper, SRT brand CEO Ralph Gilles announced that the folks at Turn 10 Studios had indeed rendered the Viper images that hit the internet last night – as Xbox 360’s driving simulator Forza Motorsport 4 will soon be offering the 2013 Viper in both gameplay and Autovista modes via the upcoming Viper Pack.

The automotive world has known for ages now that the 2012 New York International Auto Show would introduce the world to the next generation of the fabled Dodge Viper-turned SRT Viper but when the press conference ended just a few minutes ago, the world was not introduced to one but rather three new versions of the gorgeous 2013 SRT Viper – the standard Viper, the Viper GTS and the new Viper GTS-R race car.

Attendees to the New York International Auto Show, which is open to the public from April 6 to 16 at the Jacob Javitts Center in Manhattan, will be able to see for the first time Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. That is unless they have $1.9 million and have already purchased one.
