The Chrysler Group announced ahead of the 2011 Geneva Motor Show that a handful of Chrysler brand models would be rebadged and sold in the European market under the Lancia brand and yesterday, TorqueNews caught a glimpse of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country turned Lancia Grand Voyager on the streets of Detroit.

We reported in February that both Chrysler and General Motors had decided not to make an appearance at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show and with the final lineup announced for the big Japanese show, Ford Motor Company will also not be in attendance.

The key roadblock preventing Fiat SpA from possessing their desired 51% of the Chrysler Group is the amount of debt owed to the US and Canadian governments but the American automaker announced this morning that they will be paying off the entirety of these loans – freeing up Fiat to make the final moves to have their majority stake in the Chrysler Group.

Chrysler and Fiat Sergio Marchionne has stated since shortly after the merger of the two companies that he wanted for Fiat to own 51% of the Chrysler Group by the end of 2011 and while there has been some speculation as to when that number will be reached, Fiat could own 46% of Chrysler as soon as June.

When I had a chance to sit down with Dodge CEO Ralph Gilles at the 2010 LA Auto Show, he explained that the Viper would return in the spring or summer of 2012 as a 2013 model year vehicle and today, Chrysler issued a diminutive press release making that information official.
