The Chrysler Group has announced that for the 2013 model year, the Dodge Challenger R/T will be available with the optional Blacktop package that provides a dark, sinister look and while the Blacktop edition is available for other Dodge brand models, the Challenger R/T Blacktop is far more than just an appearance package.

Among the massive indoor Mopar display at this week’s 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas was a trio of 2013 Dodge Dart sedans modified with items from the Mopar Accessories catalog that not only give current Dart owners a chance to see how much they can customize their compact sedan with company help but these sporty show cars could also give us a glimpse of what to expect from the Dart SRT.

Comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham is currently working on a project with the folks from Chrysler’s Mopar division to customize a 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with a series of YouTube videos chronicling the build – and the debut of this unique Challenger named Project Ultraviolet is set for the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The Chrysler Group has issued a recall for select Dodge Ram 1500/Ram 1500 and Dodge Dakota models from the 2009 and 2010 model years over a concern that a fastener in the rear differential could work itself loose – possibly leading to the rear differential locking up.

Thanks to the EPA website and the Mopar lovers at Allpar.com, we knew in the middle of September that the 2013 Dodge Dart Aero would offer 41 miles per gallon but the Chrysler Group has now made a formal announcement on this new super-efficient compact sedan including the special features and a price hundreds below the Chevy Cruze Eco.

While there were skeptics out there who questioned whether the Chrysler Group would be able to offer a version of their new compact Dodge Dart that yields better than 40 miles per gallon – official information on the government fuel economy website reveals that both the manual and automatic versions of the 2013 Dodge Dart Aero offer at least 40 miles per gallon.

There has long been speculation that the Chrysler Group would replace the Dodge Challenger with a new model from the SRT brand named Barracuda but new reports indicate that both Mopar muscle cars could co-exist after the high performance “Cuda” is introduced sometime in 2014.
