General Motors

General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) is a linchpin of the U.S. automotive industry, selling millions of vehicles every year - 8.3 million in 2018, to be precise – and employing more than 170,000 workers. More familiarly known as GM, the auto company counts iconic brands Buick and Cadillac under its corporate umbrella, as well the more utilitarian GMC brand and the budget-conscious Chevrolet badge.

Formed in 1908 in Flint, Michigan, General Motors has a long history with the Great Lakes State. Alongside the Ford Motor Company, GM’s presence in the region and its creation of popular cars under various brands are some of the main reasons that Detroit is so widely known as Motor City. GM is a Fortune 500 company and frequently appears in the top 25 of that list as one of the largest U.S. corporations by revenue.

Early this morning, the folks at General Motors issued the newest official video of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette and while this new video should be enough to get your blood pumping as we all eagerly await the debut of the C7 Corvette – GM’s new video still doesn’t offer a look at the actual car.

According to GM, the recall was issued due to a driver side frontal airbag problem, which may result in airbag deployment failure.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has announced that General Motors is recalling a large group of the new 2013 Cadillac XTS due to a problem with the rear seating position headrests failing to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

General Motors plans to use a new in-house developed 8-speed automatic transmission to help make the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette one of the most efficient in the model’s history but a Motor Trend report indicates that GM may have to call upon an outside supplier for the early versions of the C7 Corvette, as the GM unit will not be ready for the January debut.
