As a former Nissan Leaf driver of a 2013 Nissan Leaf and as a former owner of an EV Conversion company, I was always tempted to try and extend the range of my Nissan Leaf. I never did it because of lack of time and do to the fact that I leased it so I didn’t want to end up tampering with the car at all. I drove it until it was due back and miss it to this day.

Today I had the opportunity to stop into a local dealership that had almost 100 Nissan Leafs and about 80 or so Smart Cars, which were the electric version and not the gas version. I was inquiring as I was looking to find a used Nissan Leaf. I met the business owner and he explained that now was not the time to try and buy a used Nissan Leaf.

Spotted in Europe recently was a camouflaged Nissan Leaf suspected to be the 2018 version of the world’s bestselling electric car. We have heard that a redesign was coming and welcomed by many that thought the first-generation Nissan Leaf design was ugly to start with. Last year I had the opportunity to attend the NY Auto Show at the Javitz Center in NYC and it was to work at the Sierra Club booth right in front of the registration area to test drive an Electric Car. This was a surreal event as you can easily drive the BMW I3, Nissan Leaf, and Soul EV around the track on the Lower Level of the Center even indoors because there is never any pollution from the EV itself. Try doing that with the internal combustion engine, known as an ICE engine.
