We might not know how many Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S coupes will be sold in the US or how much they will cost but thanks to a recent EPA report, we know that the sporty coupes will offer 22 miles per gallon around town and 30 mpg on the open road – numbers lower than what some had expected from the lightweight coupes.

Last week, reports surfaced that only 6,000 examples of the Subaru BRZ would be coming to the United States but with a recent comment by the president of Fuji Heavy Industries that the two companies plan to build 100,000 copies of the joint venture sports car each year – it looks as though the limited quantities of the new Subaru, Toyota and Scion sports coupes could have been exaggerated.

The 2013 Subaru BRZ Coupe is expected to be available in very limited numbers when it hits US dealerships later this year and unofficial reports now indicate that just 6,000 examples of the sporty Subaru-Toyota joint effort wearing the BRZ badge will be available to American buyers for the 2013 model year.
