Chrysler announced a few weeks ago that the 2014 SRT Viper would be receiving some new standard features and a new, larger price but the company has now announced that the new model year Viper will also get a few new exterior colors options and a new drive mode to make the Mopar supercar more capable in questionable conditions.

We brought you the news roughly a month ago about the 2014 SRT Viper pricing increases and with pricing becoming available online for the entire SRT lineup as well as the full 2014 Jeep lineup – it looks like many Chrysler Group products will cost more for 2014 than comparable models in 2013.

The Chrysler Group has announced the details for the 2014 Dodge Challenger and while there are no major changes for the new model year – the overall performance of the Challenger lineup is improved with a new Launch Control system for the SRT models along with new optional handling packages for those cars with the Pentastar V6.

Today at the Chengdu Motor Show in China, the Chrysler Group introduced the new 3.0L Pentastar V6 that is headed for the 2014 Jeep lineup and with the debut of this new engine – all Chrysler V6 powered vehicles in the world are packing Pentastar power.

While Mopar lovers eagerly await the arrival of the rumored “Hellcat” Hemi powered Dodge Challenger that is expected to offer somewhere in the area of 640 horsepower - Hennessey Performance has put together a new package for the Dodge Challenger SRT8 that provides enough power for the brawny muscle car to take down the likes of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1...at least in a straight line.

The Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology group has announced the 2014 SRT Viper pricing and the second model year of the new generation Mopar supercar will cost buyers $2,000 more than the 2013 – now bringing the base price of the Viper over the $100,000 figure when you factor in the gas guzzler tax.

After receiving two reports of rear suspension system failures that lead to crashes in the Dodge Viper, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation of some 2,500 units of the all American supercar – what could be the first step towards the government requiring the Chrysler Group to recall their high performance machine.

Yesterday afternoon, we caught up with what appeared to be a 2014 SRT Viper GTS test mule in GTS Blue sporting some unusual round exhaust protruding through the side sills and a set of non-matching rear wheels similar to those used on the 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR - leading me to wonder if this test car might wear some of the features of the new American Club Racer Viper.

Since the day that the 2013 SRT Viper was introduced last year, there has been speculation that a higher performance ACR model coming and while the arrival of the Viper ACR has been unofficially confirmed next year – the performance capabilities could be limited by Fiat in an effort to avoid competition between the Viper and the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

Today’s start of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show introduced the world to the new SRT Core packages for the Dodge Challenger SRT8 and the Chrysler 300C SRT8 – a somewhat stripped out package to answer the pleas of prospective SRT buyers who want the go fast goodies but not all of the luxury that comes with all of the SRT models.
