Tesla is one of the most well known names in the modern day automotive industry. It is the leading automotive manufacturer for battery powered cars. Yes, that means zero gasoline usage. It is without question that the evil genius behind this company, Elon Musk, has done anything except the abnormal. Their brand released their first car in 2008 and today in 2020 it is one of the most popular and practical options you can get on the market. Tesla’s have entered the market from the top down as they are quickly on their way to meet the $20,000 to $30,000 price mark, but their most popular models are $35,000 and above.

The brand is most noted by their quirky leader, their long range capabilities under one singular charge, their surprising performance aspects, and their cutting edge technology. Currently, the Model S holds the record for the longest range on one charge which was 370 miles, but Elon claims 400 miles is coming soon and also claims that the coming soon 2nd gen Tesla Roadster will not only be the fastest production car, but it will also have a range of 620 miles which is absurd.

Beginning earlier this week, Ford is halting production on 3 different production lines, including the Cuautitlan, Mexico plant that produces the Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle. Is this only a brief pause, or is it the first sign of an impending miss for Ford as it attempts to massively ramp up EV production to compete with Tesla and out-sell other mainstream rivals vying for leadership in the race toward an electrified automotive future?

Like any good fuel efficiency data nerd, I keep my own record of my vehicles’ energy use, be that from electricity or gasoline. I own both a 2022 Kia Sorento AWD Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and a RWD 2018 Tesla Model 3 Long Range and I have approximately 800 miles worth of mixed use data regarding the efficiency of my Kia Sorento PHEV. Comparing information about the two vehicles’ respective efficiency has revealed something quite interesting.

For the fourth consecutive year Tesla Model 3 has been crowned the best-selling electric car in the world: launched in 2017, it has been claiming this title on an annual basis since 2018, its first year in full production. However, its reign could end soon due to the rise of another top-selling fully electric superstar: the Model Y.

Tesla no longer needs any EV tax credits to pass for a discount on EVs (electric vehicles). The demand is so high, that it doesn't matter if the bill passes. Elon Musk was right - kill the bill completely.

Recently, numerous news sites talked about how Tesla had a recall of over 50,000 vehicles. It makes it sound like there was a big problem with those vehicles and customers had to take their Tesla's for maintenance somewhere and get parts replaced. The word recall is misleading. Here's why:

The race to find the perfect match in battery chemistry has led university teams and private companies around the world – including Tesla, obviously - to research multiple possible pathways. One of those companies, "C4V", just introduced an interesting alternative to Lithium-Iron batteries, with LFP properties but way more efficient.

Back in 2019 Tesla presented the evolution of Autopilot, the FSD or “Full Self-Driving” system. No longer just a mere roadside assistant, it basically promised to get you from point A to B, though while always keeping your eyes on the road. In short, and despite the name, it is still an autonomous level 2 "ADAS"; that is, the driver must be paying full attention at all times.

Although they asked for caution for 2022 projections - due to ongoing problems with the supply chain and logistics – they are optimistic about the increase in production with the opening of Giga-Texas and Giga-Berlin.
