Tesla twitter blogger Mathias Fons shared a rare video of a driver averting a near miss Tesla accident using Tesla's Active Safety Features with its superior handling. The video quickly went viral, gaining 310,000 views by the time of this report.
In the video you can see an oncoming bus cutting in front of a Tesla vehicle approaching an intersection on a Danish road. Tesla has the green light in front of it, but the bus. coming from the opposite site, makes an abrupt left turn, cutting in front of the Tesla. Tesla's driver exercised great handling of the electric vehicle using Tesla's Active Safety Features. Mathias Fons, responding to my comment about where it happened, responded and wrote "This happened to a fellow Dane, who posted the clip in a Danish Tesla Owners Facebook group."
Note that the Tesla did not even slow down and kept up with the speed. I can surely tell that Tesla has an amazing avoidance system. I am truly impressed. You know, I agree with Torque News Tesla reporter Jeremy Johnson that Tesla safety features make its brand a cut above the rest.
People like the Twitter user Thomas Eaves, who are familiar with Tesla's safety features, says "I’ve experienced the active safety features at highway speeds." And note that Tesla still managed to get back into its lane. Regular people really don't know how safe Teslas actually are.
"I've had 2 events in my 6 months of ownership. One of which I'm certain would have resulted in serious damage to my Model 3, if not me due to not seeing the Semi next to me suddenly veer into my lane. Very thankful for Tesla's tech myself," commented another user, named Antony.
If you are wondering how Tesla handled this near miss situation really well, it's because computers have infinite composure & no panic or human emotion whatsoever, that’s what makes them fascinating. Just completely pragmatic, stoic handling of the situation.
Anyway, I think that maneuver by Tesla was unreal. I think that last turn is only achievable via differential braking.
Tesla Active Safety Features
Tesla cars are equipped with a number of active safety features that are designed to help drivers avoid accidents. These features include:
- Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB): AEB can detect vehicles, pedestrians, or objects in front of you and apply the brakes to mitigate impact.
- Forward Collision Warning (FCW): FCW provides visual and audible warnings of impending collisions with vehicles or obstacles.
- Blind Spot Collision Warning (BSW): BSW warns you if there is a vehicle in your blind spot.
- Lane Departure Avoidance (LDA): LDA helps you stay in your lane by providing visual and audible warnings if you start to drift.
- Traffic-Aware Cruise Control (TACC): TACC maintains your set speed and distance from the car in front of you.
These features can help to make Tesla cars some of the safest on the road. In fact, Tesla has been ranked the safest car company by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Benefits of Tesla Active Safety Features
The benefits of Tesla active safety features are numerous. These features can help to:
Reduce the risk of accidents. According to Tesla, AEB alone has helped to reduce the risk of accidents by 50%.
Reduce the severity of accidents. Even if an accident does occur, the active safety features can help to reduce the severity of the accident.
Save lives. The active safety features have the potential to save lives by preventing accidents and reducing the severity of accidents.
If you are looking for a car that is equipped with the latest in active safety features, then a Tesla is a great option. These features can help to keep you and your family safe on the road.
