Tesla realizes the importance of expanding the Service Centers and is looking for locations that are immediately available for Tesla to use.
Tesla Automotive President Jerome Guillen took to LinkedIn to seek “immediately available” spaces in at least 6 markets to open new service centers:
“Tesla continues to grow its service presence. Some exciting openings coming up in the coming weeks. Still looking for suitable spaces in Los Gatos/Campbell (CA), South Atlanta, Glendale/NW Phoenix (AZ), Naples (FL), and Puerto Rico. If you know some space immediately available, please contact me.”
Mike Hoffman, a Drupal theme developer replies and writes:
"Hi Jerome. I know that people at Tesla have been made aware before but if you’re looking at Asheville NC (which is definitely needed) then the old Toys R Us property would be perfect. It’s convenient to both interstates and across the street from the superchargers at Asheville Outlets. This property has been vacant for over a year," providing a link to the property in Ashville, NC.
Torque News EV contributor Dean McMansi comments saying "with the troubled economy there should be no problem finding available commercial space for service centers. But that is only part of the needed solution for Tesla. Tesla needs to allow qualified 3rd party repair shops to also service Teslas. I understand that it is a tricky issue because currently Tesla can tightly control service and repair staff training. But as more Teslas get sold, and more of them age, the numbers of Teslas needing repairs and service will dramatically increase, despite Teslas needing less maintenance than regular ICE vehicles."
