FCA’s Mopar division has used the Chicago Auto Show to introduce a long list of aftermarket upgrades for the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, including four performance modifications in the form of beadlock wheels, a suspension lift kit, a cat-back exhaust system and the innovative Ram AirFlor cold air intake system.
Mopar has announced that there will be over 200 accessories offered for the 2019 Ram 1500 and at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, FCA’s aftermarket division is introducing the world to many of those items. The unique bed-mounted Ram Rack cargo carrying system will grab the most attention at the show, but those Ram owners looking for improved performance are likely to focus on the beadlock wheels, the suspension lift, the cat-back exhaust system and the Ram AirFlow cold air intake system.
“At the Chicago Auto Show, Mopar is showcasing the art of the possible when it comes to accessorizing the all-new Ram 1500,” said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA. “With more than 200 parts and accessories, available at launch, Mopar delivers the largest array of factory-backed, authentic products to personalize the new Ram 1500 and make it truly one of a kind.”
Wheels and Lift
Those 2019 Ram 1500 owners who plan to go off-road will be interested in the Mopar lift kit and the Mopar beadlock wheels. The Mopar suspension upgrade package comes with springs that lift the truck two inches off of the ground, creating extra ground clearance and making room for the big off-road tires on the Mopar beadlock wheels.
Like all 2019 Ram 1500 wheels, these Mopar 18-inch wheels have a six-lug pattern with a body-colored beadlock system that bolts onto the outer edge of the rim. The beadlock system will hold the 35-inch off-road tires secure on the wheels when they have been deflated for better grip in the dirt while also giving the truck a more rugged appearance.
The Mopar Cat-Back Exhaust
Next up, Mopar has introduced their cat-back exhaust system for the 2019 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi V8. This system is constructed from AL409 stainless steel and the mufflers offer a deeper, louder exhaust tone. Also, while Mopar doesn’t mention any improved performance from extra exhaust flow, this system might add a few ponies when compared to the stock pipes.
Also, the 5-inch tips give the truck a muscular appearance out back.
The Mopar Ram AirFlow
Finally, Mopar has introduced one of the most unique cold air intake systems on the market with the Ram AirFlow. This system mounts on the top of the 5.7L Hemi and extends out over the radiator, pulling cooler air from the area in behind the grille and leading it directly to the engine.
Again, Mopar hasn’t listed power gains with this system, but even if it doesn’t improve peak power numbers, there is no question that this system draws in cooler air and that leads to better power output compared to an engine running on hotter air.
We don’t have prices on any of these upgrades yet, but I expect that the Mopar cat-back exhaust system and the Mopar Ram AirFlow intake system will be popular features for all 2019 Ram 1500 buyers while the off-road crowd will love the beadlock wheels and the lift kit.
just curious, any idea when
