A Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk equipped with Hennessey’s HPE1200 package covers the quarter mile in just 9.66 seconds and with a speed of 145 miles per hour, making this is quickest and fastest Trackhawk in the world at the quarter mile distance.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the world’s highest performance sport utility vehicle. Packing the supercharged “Hellcat” Hemi that originally debuted in the Dodge Challenger and Charger, the Trackhawk gets from a stop to 60 miles per hour faster than any other stock SUV in the world and with quarter mile capabilities in the mid-11-second range, no other stock SUV covers the quarter mile as quickly.

However, even with the Jeep Trackhawk being the most powerful and the quickest SUV in the world, owners are bound to what even greater performance. There are a long list of shops around the country which are already tuning the supercharged Grand Cherokee for big power and one of them is Hennessey Performance. Hennessey is best known for their work on GM products, but since the Hellcat cars hit the street, John Hennessey’s team has been quick to offer big power packages for the blown Mopar monsters.

In this video, Hennessey’s HPE1200 package for the Trackhawk is on display and with more than a thousand wheel horsepower, this Jeep stops the quarter mile timers with a 9.66 at 145 miles per hour. That is the quickest and fastest quarter mile time by a Trackhawk to date.

HPE1200 Jeep
The HPE1200 package from Hennessey is designed to yield 1,200 horsepower at the crankshaft and slightly over 1,000 horsepower at the wheels. To be exact, this Jeep made 1,003.56 horsepower and 892.02 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels on 109-octane racing fuel.

To hit those numbers, Hennessey added a 4.5-liter Whipple supercharger with a smaller pulley (size is not specified), a larger throttle body, ported cylinder heads, a new camshaft, forged pistons, forged connecting rods, a balanced rotating assembly, stainless steel long-tube headers, high-flow catalytic convertors, larger fuel injectors, a Kenne Bell Boost-a-pump fuel pump upgrade, a high-flow cold air intake and, of course, an engine tune to bring everything together.

In addition to the extra power, we can see that the interior of this Jeep appears to be emptied out a bit, so this Grand Cherokee weighs a bit less than one coming straight off of the assembly line.

That is an extensive mod list, but the results are impressive.

On the run shown in the video below, this Hennessey-built Jeep runs a 9.66 at 145 miles per hour. It should be noted that while it only smokes the rear tires, the vehicle is shifted to all-wheel-drive for the actual run. With the big power and the traction of AWD, this full-sized Jeep sets the records for the quickest and fastest Trackhawk in the quarter mile.

The Tesla P100D Model X is quicker to 60MPH and to the 1/4 mile than the stock Trackhawk, but maybe you don't consider it a SUV. Regardless, it is a great value in a performance SUV, and I am hoping that we see a 797HP RedEye model of the TrackHawk soon. The Hennessey HPE 1200 TrackHawk is amazing by any measure, and I think that the Charger and Challenger Hellcats should offer AWD to achieve consistent acceleration times, as the Trackhawk does with it's superior traction. The article doesn't mention the HPE1200's price, but Hennessey packages are usually pretty pricey, especially considering less expensive tuning packages can get you big performance gains for less. But Hennessey buyers are often looking for bragging rights more than bargains.
