A video has surfaced on Instagram of a 2021 Ram 1500 TRX being started with the key fob while the person filming is behind the truck, giving us a great chance to hear the 702-horsepower half-ton roar at idle.
The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is one of the hottest vehicles in the American performance world right now while obviously being the hottest performance truck on the market. As expected, it is powered by the same supercharged Hemi that motivates the Dodge Hellcat cars, but in truck-specific form, it offers 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque where the cars offer 707 or 717 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.
With 702 horsepower, the Ram 1500 TRX is unrivaled in every performance category, from power output to acceleration numbers to top speed. That has made it a very popular model as the order banks have opened, allowing some dealerships to charge upwards of $50,000 on top of the MSRP for one of the limited Launch Edition models. Even those who have no plans of buying a TRX can’t get enough of the truck, sharing videos and pictures of the monstrous super-truck.
This morning, a new video surfaced on Instagram, showing the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX starting from behind. The location of the camera behind the truck gives us our best chance yet to hear the supercharged Hemi roar in the pickup and it sounds absolutely fantastic.
Ram TRX Start Up
The video below was posted online by the HydroTRX Instagram account. We don’t know who the person is who runs the account, but based on the others posts, he or she seems to work for FCA or for a company that works closely with FCA. He posted two pictures of the blue Ram 1500 TRX, followed by the video in question. The person who posted stated “the cold start on this is a lot louder than the Trackhawk. We will have to see how it sounds dumping from the cats”.
The person running the account is suggesting that he is going to remove the exhaust system and see how the TRX sounds, but that doesn’t really matter right now. What matters is that we have our first real world startup video of the Hellcat-powered pickup. The person shows us the key fob then starts the truck remotely. After the initial roar, the cameraman gets closer, giving us a look at the undercarriage and exhaust as the supercharged Hemi grumbles at idle.
While it is hard to tell from a video, this Ram 1500 TRX does sound louder than the Trackhawk or the Dodge Hellcat cars on startup.
We have included the video below, so crank up your speakers, give it a listen and tell us what you think in the comments.
Thanks to Ben for the heads up on this!
