The Build & Price feature on the Ram Trucks website is live for the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX and while it is a little buggy at the moment, it offers a full look at the pricing for the Hellcat-powered pickup in both standard and Launch Edition form.
Earlier this week, FCA introduced the 702-horsepower, Hellcat Hemi-powered Ram 1500 TRX. When the supercharged half-ton was introduced, the company provided the basic pricing for the standard version and the limited Launch Edition models. The standard TRX starts at $69,995 while the Launch Edition starts at $88,570, neither of which include destination fees or any options. When the basic pricing was announced, the option prices were not included, so we didn’t know how it would cost to load up the Ram TRX.
Fortunately, the Build & Price tool on the Ram Trucks website is live with a full list of options and pricing. Unfortunately, the configurator doesn’t seem to be working quite right, so building your ideal Hellcat-powered pickup isn’t as simple as most models, but the numbers are all there. For those who don’t want to navigate the system, we have gathered all of the option prices for you and you can find them all below.
Ram TRX Launch Edition
When you first get into the Build & Price tool for the TRX, you will find that it defaults to the limited Launch Edition package, as shown above. The Launch Edition build includes the Launch Edition package, the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group, the bedside and hood graphics, the beadlock wheels, the Harman Kardon speaker system, the panoramic sunroof, the Launch Edition-specific red interior accents and a host of safety gadgets. This is fine for those who want a Launch Edition model, but if you don’t want one of these limited edition pickups, the configurator might be a bit frustrating.
When you first start playing with the Ram TRX configurator, it seems as though you can only build the Launch Edition model. You cannot deselect the Launch Edition package or any of the other features of the limited edition model. You also cannot add many of the other options and when you try, the “add” button doesn’t do anything. The key issue for this is that many of the items which are automatically added with the Launch Edition package don’t have prices next to them when selected. This seemingly prevents someone who doesn’t want a Launch Edition from building and pricing their Hellcat Ram. Luckily, we found a workaround for this issue.
The Launch Edition is only offered in two-tone Anvil Gray with Diamond Black Crystal lower trim. If you select any other color, such as Flame Red, it removes the Launch Edition package and most of its standard features. When the system refreshes to show the pricing for the non-Launch Edition TRX, prices for all of the options are revealed.
Building a Loaded Ram TRX
Say that you want a loaded 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, but you aren’t interested in trying to be one of the 702 buyers who scores a Launch Edition. Based on what is available right now on the RamTrucks website, a fully-loaded TRX includes the following:
TRX Level 2 Equipment Group - $7,920
Interior carbon fiber package - $1,295
Advanced Safety Group - $995
Technology Group - $1,095
Bed Utility Group - $845
Trailer Tow Group - $395
Both graphics options - $495, $895
Two-tone paint - $250
Trailer tow mirrors - $445
Beadlock wheels - $1,895
Off-road running boards - $1,195
Bed-mounted tire carrier - $995
RamBar - $1,895
19-speaker Harman Kardon system - $1,195
Red interior accents - $1,495
Panoramic sunroof - $1,495
Trailer reverse control system - $495
Engine block heater - $95
5-year subscription to the Ram Telematics system - $2,720
All of those options, with the destination fee, bring about a total MSRP of $99,795. That includes the base price of $69,995, the destination fee of $1,695 and $28,105 in options. That is a whole lot of money and for someone who is more concerned with performance than appearance and technology, you can get what you need for far less.
As for those who want a loaded-up Launch Edition, there are a handful of standalone options. This includes the Trailer tow group, the towing mirrors, the running boards (or rock rails), the bed-mounted tire carrier, RamBar, the Ram Telematics system, the engine block heater and the trailer reverse steering control system. When you add those options to the Launch Edition, you get an MSRP of $100,245.
Ram TRX for the Trails
Let’s say that you want to buy a 2021 Ram 1500 TRX for as little money as possible, but you want the same basic look and performance as the original concept. You can remove most of the options from our “loaded” list above, keeping only the essentials for high performance off-road run.
First, we start with a base Ram TRX. The configurator requires you to pick one of the TRX “Level” Equipment Groups if you want to add Rock Rails or the RamBar. We want both, so we started with a Level 1 truck. With that selected, I consider the options listed below to be essential for the best off-road build.
TRX Level 1 Equipment Group - $3,420
Beadlock wheels - $1,895
Rock rails - $995
Bed-mounted tire carrier - $995
RamBar - $1,895
This shorter option list leads to an MSRP of $81,385, which is the base price of $69,995, destination fee of $1,695 and $9,695 worth of options. For those who really like the bedside and hood graphics, tack on $495 for the bedside logos and $895 for the hood detail, bringing the MSRP to $82,775. At that price, you are basically getting the concept truck, except built on the current generation Ram 1500.
