Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC added three new people to their respective board of directors last week, according to a report in the Detroit Auto Scene newspaper. The Ford director was elected, the two Chrysler directors, appointed.
Immediately joining the Ford board as a director is venture capitalist William W. Helman IV, 53, of the Greylock Partners firm. Helman, who also is a Dartmouth College trustee, was appointed to three subcommittees at Ford: finance, sustainability and nominating and governance.
"Bill's strong entrepreneurial spirit and more than 25 years of experience as a venture capitalist has helped him develop a keen understanding of what it takes for companies to innovate and grow," Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford said in a statement. "We are fortunate to further strengthen our board of directors with someone of Bill's experience and we look forward to the contributions he will make to our company's future success."
At Chrysler, the new directors are Leo W. Houle and John B. Lanaway. Sergio Marchionne (pictured), chairman of the board and CEO of Chrysler, said Houle and Lanaway were chosen for their financial acumen.
Houle was named to the board's compensation and leadership development committee and Lanaway to the audit committee.
