Porsche Cars North America bolstered its communications staff on Friday, announcing the appointment of Nick Twork as manager of product communications. The new role makes Twork No. 2 on the Porsche PR team in America and comes at an opportune time.
Things are going to be exciting in Atlanta, where Twork is based. Twork (pictured) will be plenty busy managing marketing efforts as Porsche prepares to build a new $100 million headquarters on the site of a plant closed by Ford Motor Co.
Twork reports to Steve Janisse, general manager of public relations for Porsche.
Twork will oversee a staff of two as well as product and select press activities in the U.S. for the German luxury marque.
“Nick is an excellent addition to Porsche and to PR team,” Janisse said.
“His industry experience, product knowledge, extensive media contacts and enthusiasm for the automobile are all helpful attributes to lead our product communications team.”
Twork previous worked for General Motors. He had managed public-relations efforts for Cadillac, GM's luxury car company.
Separately, Porsche announced two direct reports to Twork. They are Gary Fong, whose title is now product experience manager, and Dave Engelman, media relations manager.
Fong will manage media fleet operations and placement. Engelman will manage creation and distribution of press materials and handle inquiries from media about Porsche product.
The new Porsche headquarters is scheduled to open in 2013 on the site of a plant that Ford closed next to the local airport.
More than 400 people will work at the new location, which breaks ground this fall.
About 100 employees will be relocated from other divisions currently housed in Illinois.
The HQ will include a track to showcase Porsche's sports cars and a tech center.
“Our new American headquarters will make us an even stronger organization,” Porsche Cars Chief Executive Office Detlev Von Platen told reporters last month.
