Porsche Design Group and developer Dezer Properties collaborate to build ultra-luxury tower where owners can park next to their unit in a sky garage
Back in the 1970s, TV detective Dan Tanna used to park his ’57 T-Bird in a space next to his living room. I thought that was pretty cool but never imagined that people living in a luxury tower would be able to do the same. Now, thanks to a licensing agreement between Porsche and Dezer Properties, people who buy units in their soon-to-be-built 57-story luxury tower will be able to stow their vehicles beside their suite, rather than in underground parking.
The Porsche Design brand is already known for such products as high-end eyewear, watches and fashion. While residential real estate is a new venture for them, it makes a lot of sense. “I could not envision a more exceptional project for our brand,” says Dr. Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group. “The Porsche Design Tower would be representative of our company’s commitment to engineered luxury and the fundamentals that redefine luxury and deliver technically inspired products, such as this state-of-the-art parking system.”
The 132-residence tower, the first project of Porsche Design and Dezer, is being built in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. That’s one of the barrier islands off the coast of Miami Beach. It will feature a one-of-a-kind robotic parking system to get the cars and their owners from street level to their personal sky garage. Three circular platforms in the middle of the building will act as elevators to deliver the vehicles to their destination, one of 284 robotic parking spaces. By my calculations, not only do owners get parking, they may be able to have more than one space. Not bad in an area where parking is scarce.
The units in the Porsche Design Tower are expected to cost from $2.9 million to $9 million, and range in size from 3,800 to 9,500 square feet. The ocean-facing units come with a private pool. Sounds expensive? Think again. There are lots of condos for sale in Sunny Isles Beach between $2 and $10 million, some of them the work of Dezer.
“There would simply be no other building in the world with such unsurpassed technological and design elements,” says Gil Dezer, President of Dezer Properties. “The design team engaged in conceptualizing the Porsche Design Tower has addressed every imaginable detail a potential owner might anticipate. Our development team is confident this building will serve as a catalyst for other Porsche Design Towers throughout the world.”
I wonder where they have in mind. London perhaps? Abu Dhabi? It’s an interesting concept and I look forward to seeing where they take it from here.

The concept of moving a vehicle up a tower, parking and then moving it down , is so wrong. The energy requirements to do this must be enormous and is against all 'saving energy trends'. It is a ludicrous idea and should be outlawed
