Nissan saw a huge sales gain for September, led mainly by the Rogue and Murano crossovers, which customers can't seem to get enough of.
The September sales figures are in and Nissan is flying high with the Nissan group seeing sales gains overall and the Nissan brand itself seeing more North American-produced vehicles sold than ever before. The real winners, though, were the Nissan Rogue and Nissan Murano, both of which saw big double-digit gains in month-on-month and year-to-date sales gains.
The Rogue jumped by 45.5 percent last month as compared to September 2014, which itself was a good month for the crossover. Year to date, the Rogue has seen a massive 37.9 percent sales increase over last year. Given that the Rogue is now in its third year of a redesign, that's pretty telling as to the longevity this model's appeal has. Nissan sold more than 25,000 units of the Rogue in September 2015.
The Murano, newly revamped for this model year, is also seeing gains. Not surprising given the Murano's huge upgrade from the previous generation, but still phenomenal at 24.1 percent year-on-year and 28.9 percent year to date.
On the flip side, Nissan also had some losers this September. The GT-R supercar saw sales drop by a whopping 76.1 percent as supply became limited with the model year near its end. The LEAF also saw a big drop, nearly 57 percent, thanks in part to Nissan cutting incentives on the car as current inventory begins to wind down and the new model begins to build.
Other losses in sales volume were discontinued models such as the Cube and the Xterra. Total car sales were up 14.3 percent and total truck and SUV sales were up 21.6 percent year-on-year. Nissan also saw an 18 percent increase in the number of North American-produced vehicles sold versus September of last year.
