Ford's new Black package does not mean your paint has to be black. We explain.
Ford showed off its all-new 2019 Ranger pickup's latest appearance package. This one is called "Black." As you can see from the image of the 2019 Ranger with the Black Appearance Package, that does not mean the main body color is necessarily black. In fact, you can get the 2019 Ranger with the Black Appearance Package on any color Ranger.
The package consists of the following additions or changes to the standard Ford Ranger styling:
-Black-painted grille
-Body-color bumpers
-High-gloss black-painted 18-inch aluminum wheels with black center caps
-Black running boards
-Black spray-in bed liner
-Black fender vent surround
-Black mirrors
-Black sill plate
-Black bash plate on FX4 Off-Road Package
-Black lower valance
It's pretty obvious what Ford is going for here. Some colors will really be offset well by the Black Appearance Package. Ford suggests that Hot Pepper Red and Lightning Blue will really benefit from this Black Appearance Package. “Like the rest of their gear, Ranger customers are choosing the option that best fits their adventures,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “Having the right gear matters and so does the right look. The Black Appearance Package adds aggressive style to the adventures our customers embark on.”

Ford's other appearance packages for the Ranger include the Sport Appearance Package that adds unique wheels and Magnetic Gray-painted accents and Ford's Chrome Appearance Package with bright chrome wheels and chrome body accents.
Ford says that the company expects fully two-thrids of its trucks to ship with an appearance package. The Ranger Black Appearance Package is available as an option for $1,995 and can be ordered at dealers now. Trucks ordered with this new package are expected to be delivered in early summer.
