The new WeatherReady2 is an all-weather tire that has a look that seems familiar to us.
Today, Goodyear announced the launch of its next-generation Assurance WeatherReady2 all-weather tire. This is an all-season touring-style tire that earns the severe snow duty designation. It is intended for four-season use in areas where a vehicle owner may have previously considered a dedicated winter tire for the coldest months of the year.
All-weather tires are now all the rage. Michelin’s CrossClimate2 is among the most popular and its tread design is similar at a glance to the new Assurance WeatherReady2. Falken’s Aklimate is also a tire in this category, now earning positive reviews.
Goodyear lists the following key features of the new Assurance WeatherReady2:
- Delivers Grip All Year Round - All-Weather Technology features specialized tread compound to help the tread to adapt to all seasons and achieve severe snow designation.
- Trusted Wet Traction - Evolving Traction Grooves help displace water on the road for the life of the tire, maintaining grip
- Excellent Wet Grip - AquaTred Technology features an enhanced tread pattern with sweeping grooves to help move out water and slush for better handling and performance.
- Enhanced Control - Unique comfort inserts reduce bumps and vibrations while enhancing steering control for smooth transitions when changing lanes.
This new directional tire incorporates a distinctive, sharply-angled V-shaped tread pattern that is actually six unique tread blocks arranged from one shoulder of the tire to the other. To reduce noise, the tread blocks vary in size around the circumference of the tire.
Goodyear has held nothing back with this new tire design. Evolving Traction grooves in the tread that transition over time from narrow sipes to wide grooves to allow for water evacuation as the tire wears. TredLock technology adds elements in the sipes that grip the road when driving straight but then lock together in turns to improve handling by adding stiffness to the tread block. Finally, Goodyear’s Built-in Wear Gauge provides continuous tire tread depth monitoring so you can track the tire’s life at a glance.
The new Assurance WeatherReady2 comes complete with Goodyear’s 60,000-mile tread life warranty and a 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
