Hyundai has just revealed the all-new 2021Elantra and Elantra Hybrid. Here's our first impression.
Hyundai has just revealed a longer, lower, wider new 2010 Elantra. The Hyundai Elantra has been a favorite of ours for the past handful of years. We particularly loved the Elantra GT Sport. “While some manufacturers no longer see the value in the car side of the business, we’re doubling down by offering an all-new model with both gas and hybrid powertrains,” said José Muñoz, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. “We’ve sold more than 3.4 million Elantras here in the U.S. and more than 13.8 million worldwide, and the new, captivating look is going to bring excitement to a whole new generation of buyers. Then once inside, they’re going to love all of the progressive features.” This new Elantra for 2021 looks sleep, modern and has us VERY interested. There were already three important things one could get in an Elantra and not a Civic. This new Elantra looks to add even more great features.
2021 Hyundai Elantra 3 Highlights
The first thing to know about the new 2021 Hyundai Elantra is that it has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This is a big deal. We love these smartphone integration apps. AAA has studied them and found them to reduce driver distraction. None of the Elantra's competitors have this technology yet.
Next up, the Elantra is now longer, lower and wider. Hyundai's chart above shows it to be one of the largest vehicles in its segment. These sedans are now about as large as the Accord and Camry were a few generations ago. These cars are roomy and comfortable for four and can carry five easily. They make great family vehicles.

The new Elantra Hybrid will earn a better than 50 MPG Combined EPA fuel Economy estimate according to Hyundai. That puts it squarely in the mix with the Corolla Hybrid. The other trims announced use a 2.0-liter gas engine with no turbocharger. Watch for the small turbo to reappear as a Sport or GT trim later.
The all-new 2021 Hyundai Elantra and Elantra Hybrid have caught our eye. We will issue a full report once we have a chance to see it in person and try it on the road. Tell us in the comments below what you think at this new Elantra.
