How do the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek, Outback, and Forester sales compare with the top twenty new SUVs? Subaru's three vehicles made the twenty most popular list, and the Crosstrek barely missed the top ten best-selling new SUVs. Check out the rankings here.
Subaru's top three selling SUVs are the 2023 Crosstrek subcompact, 2023 Outback midsize, and Forester compact SUV. How do they compare with the top twenty new SUVs? Kelley Blue Book (KBB) says a significant percentage of new car sales are now SUVs and make up many top-selling cars. Pickups are still the top-selling vehicles, but SUVs are closing in.
The biggest surprise for Subaru is the 2023 Crosstrek subcompact SUV nearly made making the top 10 best-selling new SUVs last year at number eleven. And the hot Crosstrek was the nineteenth best-selling vehicle overall for 2022. It's the first time the Crosstrek subcompact SUV has taken the top sales spot in Subaru of America's all-wheel-drive lineup.
What does KBB say about the Crosstrek?
"Standard all-wheel-drive and lots of ground clearance mean the Subaru Crosstrek is more off-road capable than its is-that-a-hatchback body style might suggest. There is also a plug-in hybrid variant for those seeking off-road ability, on-road comfort, and an extra dose of efficiency."
What does Consumer Reports say about the 2023 Crosstrek?
Consumer Reports (by subscription) picks the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek as the best subcompact SUV and a smart buy for new car shoppers. CR says the Crosstrek offers an impressive mix of performance, reliability, safety features, and value, and it's "the very best of the best."

What does KBB say about the 2023 Forester?
