This weekend Subaru takes a championship driver and the 2015 WRX STI to the ski slopes and demonstrates the performance car’s abilities in the snow.
All Japan Rally Championship driver Kamata Takuma took the 2015 Subaru WRX STI performance car and thrilled skiers at the “Slope Taxi 2015” event at Shirakabako Echo Valley ski resort yesterday. The event is taking place Saturday and Sunday, January 24-25. Skiers got the opportunity to see the Japan Rally champion demonstrate the STI’s all-wheel-drive capabilities in the deep snow at the ski resort in Nagano Prefecture.
“Slope Taxi 2015”
It’s all part of Subaru’s “Slope Taxi 2015” events they are holding this season to introduce a young generation to Subaru’s AWD vehicles. Subaru gives free rides up the ski slopes in their new 2015 Forester SUV, XV Crosstrek crossover and Outback wagon to skiers in Japan this winter. The niche market automaker builds multi-purpose all-wheel-drive vehicles that people use for recreation and what better way to introduce the multi-use vehicles to a new generation of buyers?
Subaru is marketing to a new generation
Now a young generation of future car buyers get to experience the new Forester, XV Crosstrek and Outback’s driving performance in extreme snow conditions as they power up the ski slope to the top of the mountain. They won’t have to get on the chair lift, but they will likely have to wait in line for the ride in the Subarus.

The young Japanese skiers didn’t ride up the slopes in the STI, but were treated to see All Japan Rally Championship driver Kamata Takuma take the new generation 2015 Subaru WRX STI and demonstrate how the performance sedan handles the deep snow. They took pictures and put a few videos of the STI on Instagram. Take a look at the new WRX STI’s performance in the snow here. Here's another video link to the STI on the slopes.
