Should you buy a 2023 Subaru Impreza now or wait for the next-generation 2024 Impreza? Here is why customers should buy now and not wait.
The Subaru Impreza is aging and needs a remodel, and the compact sedan and hatchback dropped 18.5 percent in sales in October compared to the same period in 2021. SOA reported they delivered 2,861 Impreza compact cars to customers in October compared with 3,512 in October 2021.
It’s not unusual for a vehicle to drop in sales before the next-generation models arrive. The next-generation 2024 Impreza is finally coming but should you wait or buy a 2023 model now?
If you want the new Impreza, you will have to wait. Subaru will likely launch the new Impreza compact hatchback and sedan in the summer of 2023, but it could be later. It could be closer to one year before new models arrive at U.S. retailers.
The next-generation 2024 Impreza will get a significant price increase. The cost of parts and shipping costs are going up more. The new Impreza pricing could go up about $800-$1,000.
What is the price of the 2023 Impreza?
The 2023 Subaru Impreza compact sedan and hatchback remain unchanged from the 2022 models. All 2023 Subaru Impreza trim levels get a $550 price bump, including destination and delivery fees (+$25). The Impreza comes in four trim levels and seven different models.
2023 Impreza comes in Base sedan ($20,815), Base hatchback ($21,315), Premium sedan ($24,215), Premium hatchback ($24,715), Sport sedan ($25,615), Sport hatchback ($25,015), and Limited hatchback ($28,415). Destination and delivery ($995) are included in the prices above. Models with a CVT automatic transmission add to the prices above $1,300, depending on the trim level.
Why should you consider the 2023 Impreza now?
The fuel mileage is one significant reason the Impreza is still a good pick. The 2023 Impreza is affordable, gets the highest safety scores, and comes standard with all-wheel-drive for winter driving performance.

Also standard on Limited trims are High Beam Assist and Steering Responsive Headlights.
The new 2024 Impreza will get significant upgrades if you can wait
Subaru says, “The all-new 2024 Impreza will take the model’s up-for-anything versatility, capability, and style to new places.”
The Impreza will get upgrades to the interior, improved driving dynamics, and new safety upgrades. The compact sedan and hatchback will get a new center console with additional storage, an 11.6-inch center information display, and an improved infotainment system with smartphone-integrated functionality.
The next generation Impreza gets improvements to the Subaru Global Platform that should improve ride quality. Like the Crosstrek, Impreza now utilizes a full-inner-frame construction Subaru first introduced on the new Levorg and WRX S4. The new Impreza will likely keep the 2.0-liter engine.
Subaru will make improvements to reduce vibrations and noise in the engine and Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission. The 2024 Impreza will also feature the next-generation EyeSight driver-assist safety system.
When will customers see the all-new Impreza?
Check back for further updates as the next-generation 2024 Subaru Impreza will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17.
You may not want to wait for the 2024 Impreza. Compact car shoppers can now order the 2023 Impreza compact sedan and hatchback and save money before the new model arrives. Subaru says they offer a base 2023 Impreza sedan for $255/month on a 36-month lease. $2,655 is due at lease signing with a $0 security deposit.
