Consumer Reports says the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is one of the new models worth the wait. They give five reasons why it's a good pick for compact SUV shoppers. But they miss two of the most important reasons why. Check out the report here.

Consumer Reports (by subscription) listed the best new cars on the horizon that will be worth the wait for new model shoppers. They include the all-new next-generation Subaru Crosstrek as a new vehicle among the top models. They give five reasons why it's a good pick for compact SUV shoppers, but they missed two of the most important reasons.

They say the new cars on the horizon worth the wait are, in alphabetical order, the Alfa Romeo Tonale, Buick Envista, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, Chevrolet Equinox EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV, Fisker Ocean, Ford Mustang, Ford Ranger, Hyundai Kona, Jeep Wrangler, Lexus GX, Lexus RZ, Lexus TX, Lincoln Nautilus, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Subaru Crosstrek, Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, Toyota Grand Highlander, Toyota Tacoma, Volkswagen ID.7, and Volvo EX90.

Why Consumer Reports says, you should wait for the 2024 Crosstrek.

CR says the next-generation Crosstrek is a top pick because it now comes standard with Subaru's EyeSight driver assistance system on all trim levels. They also say the Crosstrek will have improved handling. Third, they say Crosstrek has impressive ground clearance, standard all-wheel-drive, and extra black body cladding.

CR says, "The Crosstrek was given an evolutionary redesign for 2024. The EyeSight driver assistance system is standard across all trims and includes automatic emergency braking. Subaru also says there are a few performance and design tweaks that will improve handling."

"But the basic formula of this small SUV remains the same. It's still a raised Impreza hatchback with impressive ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive. A rugged-looking Sport version gets a bright yellow accent trim, and all versions have additional black body cladding."

"Two engine options carry over from 2023. A manual transmission and the plug-in hybrid version are no longer offered. The interior is similar to the Forester or Outback, and the rear seats fold flat for more cargo capacity. An 11.6-inch touchscreen is optional."

But CR should have included two more essential improvements for the 2024 model change. They could be game-changing upgrades for the Crosstrek.

The all-new Crosstrek Wilderness

The 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness is a new trim level for outdoor enthusiasts who want to get further off the grid. The outdoor-themed Wilderness trim level adds significant new upgrades and joins the Outback and Forester Wilderness family. Check out the complete Crosstrek Wilderness trim-level features, pricing, and model guide here.

Crosstrek gets a new front seat design.

The new 2024 Crosstrek gets a new front seat design that will improve comfort for the driver and passenger. The new Crosstrek is redesigned with a more supportive front seat design that increases overall comfort and minimizes fatigue. In addition, Subaru says a focused effort on reducing sounds within the particular frequency ranges results in a quieter and more comfortable cabin.

What is the price of the 2024 Crosstrek?

For 2024, the Crosstrek will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Wilderness trim levels and has a starting price of $26,290 (the same MSRP as the 2023 Base model equipped with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission).

The 2024 Crosstrek Premium has a starting price of $27,440, Sport ($30,290), and Limited ($32,190). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,225). The Crosstrek Wilderness costs $33,290, including dealer destination and delivery fees ($1,295).

Consumer Reports says the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is one of the new models worth the wait. They say the new Crosstrek Base and Premium are available this spring, and the Crosstrek Sport and Limited will come this summer. But the four trim levels are arriving now for U.S. customers. The new Crosstrek Wilderness arrives this fall.

You forgot to mention that the 2024 Crosstrek seat design now has a power option and a 10-way one at that. This is one key feature I have been waiting for.
