Subaru Shoppers looking for the best value models should look at this before you buy. Subaru of America has two top-value picks for new car shoppers right now.
What are Subaru's best-value models right now? An updated report from Consumer Reports (by subscription) says the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid and Subaru Solterra EV are your best picks on Black Friday. These are two standout, money-saving buys for bargain hunters.
Consumer Reports says, "In choosing the models to highlight, we concentrated on those with a strong Overall Score, which factors in road-test performance, owner satisfaction, reliability, and safety."
I will explain why the Crosstrek Hybrid and Solterra EV should be on your shopping list.
CR says new car retailers tend to be more eager to move leftover models (2023s) now because they have likely been financing them for a while and want to make way for the 2024s. This is to the shopper's advantage if 2023s are available.
The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has already arrived at U.S. Subaru retailers, but there may be a few 2023 Crosstrek Hybrid trim levels on retailers’ lots.
Why is the Subaru Solterra the best Black Friday pick?
This could be a great time for customers to buy the all-new electric Solterra. Consumer Reports says you can get 9% off the new Solterra MSRP on Black Friday.
The Subaru Solterra is now ranked the #3 of #13 Electric SUVs and a recommended model by CR.
CR says a 2023 Subaru Solterra Premium trim level has an MSRP of $44,995, but you can get a discount of $3,977. The bottom line price is $41,018. CR says incentives expire on January 4, 2024.
The peaked interest among new SUV shoppers is primarily because of Subaru's special incentives and financing of the Solterra right now. I checked Subaru of America's special offers page, and Solterra has special offers not found on other models. Subaru of America offers a rare 0.0% APR financing for 72 months or a $399/month lease, with $0 down on new 2023 Solterra EV Premium trim levels through November 30, 2023.
Why is the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid the best Black Friday pick?
The Subaru Crosstrek Plug-In Hybrid is a good choice if you are looking for a fuel-efficient small SUV. The Crosstrek Hybrid is a model recommended by Consumer Reports and ranked #1 of 15 subcompact SUVs.
This could be a great time for customers to buy Subaru's only hybrid model. Consumer Reports says you can get 8% off the new Crosstrek Hybrid MSRP on Black Friday.
According to CR, the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid trim level has an MSRP of $36,845, but you can get a discount of $3,009. The bottom line price is $33,836. CR says incentives expire on January 4, 2024.
You can also get a $4,000 tax credit on the Crosstrek Hybrid if you buy a lightly used model.
Consumer Reports says three used Hybrid models are eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $4,000. It's part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that went into effect in 2022. The only three hybrid models that qualify are the 2021 Toyota Prius Prime, the 2019-2021 Subaru Crosstrek Plug-In Hybrid, and the 2016-2018 BMW 330e PHEV.
The Consumer Report says, "Used electric car and Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) buyers can get up to a $4,000 tax credit, but only a fraction of the EVs and PHEVs on the market currently qualify."
Subaru Shoppers looking for the best value models should look at the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid and 2023 Subaru Solterra EV. They are among the top value picks for new car shoppers right now.
