Cold temperatures are on their way, and they will put the U.S. in a deep freeze. Here's why many crazy Subaru Outback, Crosstrek, and Forester owners won't stay inside where it's warm.
Where will you be when the temperate drops below zero this week? Where any sane person would be. Unless you live in Hawaii, they will stay inside in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate or a steaming cup of hot coffee. It's not where the crazy snow-loving Subaru owners will be.
They will be driving their all-wheel-drive Subaru Outback, Crosstrek, Forester, or Ascent SUVs to the ski slope for a fun day of snowboarding or skiing. You will even see a few Subaru WRX owners with snowboards on the roof driving over a snow-covered mountain pass.
It's why they drive a Subaru and do crazy stuff in the snow. Subaru of America embraces the cold temperatures and encourages its snow-loving owners to get outside when others are inside, staying warm.
The Subaru brand has been involved with winter sports since the 70s when it sponsored the U.S. Ski Team. Subaru of America continues to reach winter sports enthusiasts, not with the 1987 Subaru GL Wagon, but with the outdoor-themed 2023 Outback Wilderness midsize SUV.
Subaru of America announced the return of its annual mountain tour, Subaru WinterFest, which celebrates everything that winter has to offer. They will bring the yearly WinterFest to eight of the country's top ski resorts, where winter sports enthusiasts and Subaru owners can enjoy live music, food and beverage, gear demonstrations, and even avalanche rescue dogs.
"For many people, the winter months actually mean spending more time outdoors enjoying a wide variety of activities with friends and families, and our canine friends too," said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, Inc. "Our Subaru community looks forward to the return of WinterFest each year, which brings family-friendly activities to eight different ski resorts across the country.”
The Subaru brand has always attracted a different breed who take their SUVs off-pavement and into deep snow. Before the Wilderness sub-brand arrived, Subaru dealers were getting into the modification business, offering customers off-road accessories and lift kits for more extreme adventures. But with the new Wilderness models like the Outback Wilderness, they don't need them.
The Subaru WinterFest 2023 schedule can be found below:
Subaru WinterFest 2023 will feature stops at:
February 11-12 Killington Mountain Resort, VT
February 25-26 Eldora Mountain Resort, CO
March 11-12 Copper Mountain Resort, CO
March 18 Woodward Park City, UT
March 24-26 Snowbird Ski Resort, UT
April 1-2 Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort, CA
April 8 Woodward Tahoe Resort, CA
April 15-16 Mt. Bachelor, OR
What many people don't know is that, unless you live at a higher altitude, temperatures on the ski slope can be warmer than at lower altitudes. A temperature inversion causes the cold air to sink and the warmer air rises. So maybe Subaru Outback, Crosstrek, and Forester owners are just a little crazy.
