Do you have aging parents? The new Subaru Outback could be used as a tool to meet a valuable need.
Subaru talks a lot about “love” in their TV ads, and they are putting their money where their mouth is. Subaru of America is giving away 50 new 2018 Outback wagons to Meals on Wheels and it could help your aging parents. The Cherry Hill, NJ automaker is celebrating their 50th anniversary in the U.S. next year, and this fall the new wagons will be used to deliver an estimated 53,000 meals to an additional 3,700 seniors across 39 states.
As our parents are living longer, and still live in their own house, one of these vehicles could be used to help your mother or father with needed meals. It’s not just a meal, the volunteers give a friendly smile, and provide a valuable safety check to seniors who live alone. They will even call you if they suspect something is wrong with your father or mother.
Subaru addressed Meals on Wheels network’s growing demand for fuel-efficient, versatile and safe delivery vehicles “to enable our nation’s most vulnerable seniors to live nourished lives with independence and dignity.” The announcement was made in Denver, Colorado at the companies National Business Conference, where dealers from across the country gathered to hear about the companies future direction and new vehicles.
The partnership is not new for Subaru
Subaru of America has supported the organization for nine years through their “Share the Love” events where every fall, they donate $250 for every new vehicle sold, to the customer's choice of the following charities: ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals On Wheels Association of America, and National Park Foundation. Subaru says they have donated more than $12 million to Meals on Wheels and provided more than 1.7 million meals, friendly visits, and safety checks to seniors in communities nationwide.
The SUV-alternative Outback is made at the Japanese automaker's plant in the U.S., and it’s the ideal vehicle to get the nod, as the flagship model for the brand, comes with standard all-wheel-drive, hatchback versatility and up to 32 mpg. Reports say it’s one of the most likely vehicles to go over 200,000 miles. You might see one of these 50 new 2018 Subaru Outback wagons delivering meals to seniors, and it could be used to help one or both of your aging parents who are homebound.
