Subaru received their fourth straight ALG Best Mainstream Brand award and they pick up five segment awards. See why it implies buying new is better.

In ALG’s 2019 Residual Value Awards, Subaru gets five individual segment awards and they are singled out to be the top mainstream brand. The 2019 Subaru Impreza gets the Best Compact Car, the 2019 Subaru Outback is Best Midsize Utility-2 Row, the all-new 2019 Forester SUV is Best Compact Utility, and Crosstrek takes Best Subcompact Utility.
In the highly-competitive sports car segment, the 2019 Subaru WRX performance sedan scores Best Sports Car. WRX has been awarded the ALG Residual Value Award for each of the five years it has been available as a stand-alone model since it dropped the Impreza name.
These latest ALG accolades for Subaru, being named Top Mainstream Brand, tells consumers, that all Subaru vehicles retain their value better than other automakers. Subaru Impreza, Outback, Forester, Crosstrek and WRX are most expected to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year period. Subaru’s overall vehicle lineup will incur less depreciation than any other mainstream brands cars.
What does it mean for consumers?
This means it’s better for urban SUV and crossover buyers to buy a new 2019 Subaru Outback, Forester and Crosstrek than it is to buy used. If you’ve tried to purchase a previously owned Crosstrek, you know this is true. The value of a used Crosstrek is just a few thousand dollars less than a new one. This is especially true if you live in the Northeast, Rocky Mountain or Pacific Northwest where the brand is popular.
