A new announcement from Subaru Canada says they will not get the next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek made in the U.S. factory. See why they will have to wait longer to get the new model than U.S. customers.

Subaru customers in Canada will have to wait longer to get the all-new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport and Limited trim levels. A new announcement from Subaru Canada says they will not get the next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek made in the U.S. factory. Instead, they will have to wait for all its new models to be shipped from Japan.

Subaru of America won't share the new U.S.-Made 2024 Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims with Subaru Canada. Instead, Subaru of America announced its customers in the U.S. will now get two Crosstrek trim levels sooner because they are made in its factory in Lafayette, Indiana. As a result, they won't have to wait for the new models to be shipped across the pond from Japan.

Subaru of America recently said the 2024 Crosstrek Sport and Limited would be produced in the U.S. for the first time at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA). Sport and Limited will continue to be the hot models because they come with a re-tuned and slightly more powerful 2.5-liter Boxer engine upgrade.

But, the Base and Premium trims will still be made in Gunma, Japan, and will take longer to arrive on U.S. shores like the Canadian models.

The Subaru Crosstrek is Subaru of America's hottest model, and they expect it to get even hotter when the newly-remodeled subcompact SUV arrives this spring and summer. So they wanted to get the new model to their customers as quickly as possible, and they petitioned Subaru Corporation to make the hot small SUV in the U.S. factory.

Subaru Corporation listened and gave the factory the go-ahead to start building the new 2024 Crosstrek subcompact SUV in the U.S. factory along with the Outback midsize SUV, Ascent 3-Row SUV, Impreza compact hatchback, and Legacy midsize sedan.

The Crosstrek rides on the same chassis as the new 2024 Impreza hatchback and will likely be built on the same assembly line in Lafayette, Indiana. The Crosstrek has a different suspension but shares some of the same parts as the Impreza. So it did not require SIA to make massive changes to the factory's assembly line.

The U.S.-built Sport and Limited price went up more than the Japan-built Base and Premium trims.

What is the price of the U.S. 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

For 2024, the Crosstrek will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited trim levels and has a starting price of $26,290 (the same MSRP as the 2023 Base model equipped with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission).

The 2024 Crosstrek Premium has a starting price of $27,440, Sport ($30,290), and Limited ($32,190). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,225). The Premium trim price increased by +$70, the Sport +$1,070, and Limited +$1,470.

Subaru did not reveal how many new 2024 Crosstrek Sport and Limited trim will be built in the U.S., but it could be a significant number, with the Sport trim being one of the most popular trim levels. However, we know they will keep all of the models built in Lafayette, Indiana, for its U.S. customers and won't share them with Canada.

As usual Subaru continues to infuriate it's loyal fanbase everywhere.

I high suspect canada will be gett8ng the weaker 2.0 FA20 Crosstreks( aka XV), the same 2.0 engines we get in the middle east XVs and Foresters that has decimated all practicality and fun of owning a subaru.
Then subaru complains about the loss 8n sales and failure to expand in other markets.
Subaru should get off their high horse and give us the cars we want.

As an owner of 3 subarus... i will no longer entertain a 4th.
The RAV4 adventure or Mazda CX5 maybe my next but.

Given the choice I would take Japanese made vehicles over US made vehicles every time!!
Just that much better!!

There is a reason all the engines and transmissions are made in Japan!!
I’d rather wait for the Japanese made product!!

I don't trust US to make anything of quality. I live in Canada and had the misfortune of driving American made Neons, Buicks, Pontiacs, K cars and caddies. All were poorly built, troublesome, inefficient fuelwise etc.
No thx, I want Asian made over American or European.

This article makes no sense.

1. The Indiana-manufactured Sport and Limited models are not available until Summer according to Subaru's Chicago auto show announcement. This is later than the base and Premium trims, which are made in Japan, and which will be available in Spring.

2. The US Sport trim does not exist in Canada. It's called the Onyx and it has different standard features than the Sport (heated front seats, heated steering wheel).

They will most likely be ASSEMBLED in USA but mostly made in Japan. Regardless, I'd rather buy a car fully made, assembled, and tested in Japan!

As a proud owner of a plug in crosstrek I can say is that it's a great little car. Subaru NEEDS to have a version of this with a turbo charger in it! VROOM!

YESS!!!! Tired of the Americans casually bringing in their junky Subaru cars into Canada, at least allow us to get proper Subaru’s from Japan that are actually reliable.
