Subaru Says They Won't Share The New U.S.-Made Crosstrek With Anyone
Subaru customers in Canada will have to wait longer to get the all-new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport and Limited trim levels. A new announcement from Subaru Canada says they will not get the next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek made in the U.S. factory. Instead, they will have to wait for all its new models to be shipped from Japan.
Subaru of America won't share the new U.S.-Made 2024 Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims with Subaru Canada. Instead, Subaru of America announced its customers in the U.S. will now get two Crosstrek trim levels sooner because they are made in its factory in Lafayette, Indiana. As a result, they won't have to wait for the new models to be shipped across the pond from Japan.
Subaru of America recently said the 2024 Crosstrek Sport and Limited would be produced in the U.S. for the first time at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA). Sport and Limited will continue to be the hot models because they come with a re-tuned and slightly more powerful 2.5-liter Boxer engine upgrade.
But, the Base and Premium trims will still be made in Gunma, Japan, and will take longer to arrive on U.S. shores like the Canadian models.
The Subaru Crosstrek is Subaru of America's hottest model, and they expect it to get even hotter when the newly-remodeled subcompact SUV arrives this spring and summer. So they wanted to get the new model to their customers as quickly as possible, and they petitioned Subaru Corporation to make the hot small SUV in the U.S. factory.
Subaru Corporation listened and gave the factory the go-ahead to start building the new 2024 Crosstrek subcompact SUV in the U.S. factory along with the Outback midsize SUV, Ascent 3-Row SUV, Impreza compact hatchback, and Legacy midsize sedan.
The Crosstrek rides on the same chassis as the new 2024 Impreza hatchback and will likely be built on the same assembly line in Lafayette, Indiana. The Crosstrek has a different suspension but shares some of the same parts as the Impreza. So it did not require SIA to make massive changes to the factory's assembly line.
The U.S.-built Sport and Limited price went up more than the Japan-built Base and Premium trims.
What is the price of the U.S. 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?
For 2024, the Crosstrek will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited trim levels and has a starting price of $26,290 (the same MSRP as the 2023 Base model equipped with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission).
The 2024 Crosstrek Premium has a starting price of $27,440, Sport ($30,290), and Limited ($32,190). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,225). The Premium trim price increased by +$70, the Sport +$1,070, and Limited +$1,470.
Subaru did not reveal how many new 2024 Crosstrek Sport and Limited trim will be built in the U.S., but it could be a significant number, with the Sport trim being one of the most popular trim levels. However, we know they will keep all of the models built in Lafayette, Indiana, for its U.S. customers and won't share them with Canada.
