Consumer Reports reveals their Best Cars Under $30,000. See the four Subaru top performing vehicles.
Consumer Reports (CR) has assembled the best new cars and SUVs under $30,000 and Subaru scores four top performing vehicles in their respective categories. CR says the eight vehicle categories represent the best vehicles in America for their overall road test performance, owner satisfaction, predicted reliability, and safety. All can be had for under $30K.
In the Best Sporty Car category, it’s the rear-drive 2018 Subaru BRZ sports coupe (25,595) taking the honors. The other competitor is the Toyota 86, the Mazda Miata MX-5, and Volkswagen GTI didn’t meet CR’s qualifications.
The Best Wagon under $30K is the SUV-alternative 2018 Subaru Outback ($25,895) beating all other wagons in the U.S. CR says the Volkswagen Golf SportWagen, Toyota Prius V, and Ford C-Max Hybrid also didn’t meet their tough qualifications.
The newly-redesigned 2018 Subaru Crosstrek ($21,795) takes home the Best Subcompact SUV, swiping the top performing honor from the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and new arrival Nissan Rogue Sport.
In the Best Compact SUV category, it’s the 2018 Subaru Forester ($22,795) who wins in the highly competitive segment beating the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Nissan Rogue, and Toyota RAV4.
The other four category winners are the Toyota Yaris iA in the Best Subcompact Car segment, Toyota Corolla is the Best Compact Car, Toyota Camry gets the Best Midsize Car, and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport scores Best Midsize SUV.
Subaru has created a niche market with their all-wheel-drive sporty models. They are not only affordable, but they hold their value better than most other vehicles on the road. The 2018 Subaru Outback, Forester SUV, and Crosstrek crossover all come with higher ground clearance for off-road adventures. The sporty 2018 Subaru BRZ is the only vehicle in their lineup without AWD. All four score CR’s “Best Cars Under $30,000 for 2018.
