Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla is working on a Performance Cybertruck posting on X “I just drove the performance Cybertruck today and it kicks ass next-level”. Earlier leaks suggest the vehicle will have quad motors and a 1.9 sec 0 to 60 time.
Tesla is currently in the final stages of starting Cybertruck volume production. For a few weeks now, the EV maker has been producing 5 to 10 Cybertrucks a day at Giga Texas with a total production of well over 100 Cybertrucks. And Tesla has been shipping these vehicles to the company’s stores all across the country.
According to internal leaks, this move is in preparation for a first-of-its-kind delivery event where Tesla delivers the Cybertruck simultaneously to several customers all across the country. A Tesla representative has recently confirmed that Cybertruck deliveries will begin next month.
As Tesla nears the first Cybertruck delivery event, the hype for the all-electric truck is also reaching a fever pitch. Recently Cybertruck reservations surpassed 2 million preorders.
The truck before it even starts selling has also started getting some notable endorsements. Oracle CEO, Tesla Investor, former Tesla board member, and Elon Musk’s close personal friend Larry Ellison has chosen the Cybertruck as Oracle’s next-generation police vehicle.

Announcing Oracle’s Cybertruck choice, Ellison said that the all-electric truck is his favorite vehicle of all time and that is not only due to the publicly available information about the Cybertruck but also because of a lot of yet-to-be-revealed information about the truck.
And only a couple of days after Ellison made those comments, Elon Musk has come out and confirmed exciting information regarding the Cybertruck. Earlier this morning Musk posted on X writing “I just drove the performance Cybertruck today and it kicks ass next-level.”
Back in 2021, Tesla removed all pricing and specs from the Cybertruck order page. And since then, Tesla has fundamentally redesigned the Cybertruck which has made it close to impossible to talk about any of the truck’s specifications with confidence.
However, if Musk confirms that he test-drove a Performance Cybertruck this close to the launch event, then this all but confirms that Tesla will indeed launch a Performance Cybertruck variant.
Currently, there isn’t a lot we know about the Performance Cybertruck. When Tesla first unveiled the Cybertruck back in 2019, the EV maker said there would be 3 variants of the vehicle including a Single-Motor Rear-Wheel-Drive, a Dual-Motor All-Wheel-Drive, and a Tri-Motor Performance variant.
Tesla said the single-motor Cybertruck will have a 250-mile EPA range, a 6.5 second 0 to 60 time, and a 110Mph top speed. The Dual-Motor All-Wheel-Drive version was quoted as having a 300-mile EPA range, 4.5 seconds from 0 to 60 time, and a 120Mph top speed.
The Tri-Motor Performance version, which at the time of the announcement was the top-of-the-line version of the truck had a 500-mile range, 2.9 sec 0 to 60 time, and a 130Mph top speed.
The specs for the Performance Cybertruck Tesla revealed back in 2019 are certainly exciting however, it has been 4 years since Tesla announced those specs and 2 years since Tesla stopped advertising these numbers for the Performance Cybertruck on the company’s website.
As I said earlier, the Cybertruck has seen several changes including a fundamental internal redesign since its first unveiling and currently, it is expected that Tesla has axed the single-motor rear-wheel drive version of the Cybertruck and that the base version of the truck will now have dual motors and will be an all-wheel-drive.
As for the Performance Cybertruck, Elon Musk has updated the specs of the truck to say that it’ll have quad motors instead of the tri-motor configuration that was revealed back in 2019. Currently, the final specs of the truck are yet to come out however, there are rumors quoting Tesla employees that the redesigned Performance Cybertruck can have a huge leap in performance with a 0 to 60 time of as little as 1.9 seconds.
If it comes to be true this will make the performance Cybertruck not only the fastest production truck in the world but one of the quickest vehicles overall.
Currently, there is a lot we have yet to learn about the Cybertruck and we’ll be sure to keep you posted once we learn more about the all-electric truck. Until then, make sure to visit our site torquenews.com/Tesla regularly for the latest updates.
So what do you think? Excited that Elon Musk has confirmed that there will indeed be a Performance Cybertruck? What do you expect the specs of the Performance Cybertruck to be? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
