On April 8, a custom license plate was sold at a charity auction in Dubai for a world record-setting $15 million. The license plate, which features just two characters - the letter "P" and the number "7," was sold by Emirates Auction, a Dubai-based auction house that specializes in cars and license plates. The auction house has previously held the record for the most expensive plate sold, auctioning off the number "5" license plate in 2008 for $14.2 million.
The license plate auctioning program in Dubai is a unique and popular event that attracts buyers from all over the world. The auction benefits the charity 1 Billion Meals Endowment, founded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, to bring food to those in need. The proceeds from the sale of the license plate will go to this charity, which is a great cause.
At the time, the winner of the auction was not revealed, and it was not clear what kind of vehicle will get this prestigious license plate. However, today, a blacked-out Tesla Model X Plaid was spotted driving in Dubai with the $15 million number 7 license plate.
The vehicle appears to be a stock Model X Plaid with a matte black wrap and tinted windows. The Model X Plaid has a starting price of around $100,000 and together with the $15 million license plate, this makes the matt-black Model X Plaid in Dubai the most expensive Tesla in the world, with a total vehicle-license plate value of $15.1 million.

The Model X Plaid is the fastest SUV in the world, with a 0 to 60 time of under 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 155 miles per hour, and even more impressively the Model X Plaid is able to achieve this feat while simultaneously boasting the ability to carry six passengers.
In addition to performance, the Model X Plaid is also the most high-tech production vehicle in the world, with Tesla’s unrivaled full self-driving FSD Beta v11 software, a 17-inch high refresh rate screen, a PlayStation 5 GPU, ability to play the latest AAA games, active noise cancellation, falcon wing doors, and many more features that put the vehicle above its competition.
With all these features and performance and the ability to carry 6 passengers, it’s no wonder the most expensive license plate in the world ended up on a Model X. The decision makes even more sense if the owner of the vehicle intends to use the car to carry his family.
The fact that a Tesla Model X is sporting the world's most expensive license plate is a testament to the brand's value and exclusivity. The combination of a luxury electric car and a one-of-a-kind license plate is the ultimate status symbol for car enthusiasts and collectors alike.
The most expensive license plate ending up on a Model X should also help Tesla’s brand value which by some is not still recognized as a true luxury brand.
This is certainly exciting, and currently, there isn’t a lot of detail known about the owner of the most expensive Tesla in the world. However, we will be sure to keep you posted if we receive any more information regarding the matt black Model X or the person who purchased the vehicle.
